Comments: Why are there bolts at the bottom of this route where there is a splitter crack?! They are unnecessary.

Comments: This route is stunning, one of the most splitter I have done in Colorado. Hard traverse, followed by a radical, steep roof on the crux. Awesome! My partner cut her fingers going over the roof as well, so tape is a good idea. I accidentally ran the crux & following pitch together. It worked out well. There was very little rope drag. I brought too much gear. Didn't place anything smaller than a 0.3 Camalot and only a few nuts, but 2 of everything else up to #4 is nice. No #5 necessary.... more >>

Comments: I found out the route is 12b, though I don't know the name. It seems an accurate grading. It's a fun route.

Comments: Nope. It's to the right of that climb, just left of that one-move wonder 11a with a couple bolts. It's on a gently overhanging wall.

Comments: Does anyone know the name/rating of the steep, bolted line just right of Last Laugh? It feels like 5.12b, but it's not in the book or on MP.

Comments: Directions are incorrect. The road is not 360 that you turn right on from West Creek. It is Stump Rd, #68, and you turn right at the fire station. Also, the landowner who owns the property at the gate where you park (at the end of 9J) is a decent fellow. However, he is a bit bummed because people camp by the gate (there's a big no camping sign as its a wildlife area), and he relayed some stories about climbers driving down his road (it is a private road that he allows people to walk on) a... more >>

Comments: If you use the crack left of the bolt line, which is where all the chalk is, it is not a 5.12a. It's more like 5.11a/b. Great route.

Comments: Perhaps I am a wuss or a terrible offwidth climber, but I got on this route expecting 10a, and it felt harder. I definitely would not recommend a new 10a leader get on it.

Comments: Hmm, well, I think perhaps it could have R potential if you are not dialed into placing gear. It's certainly not an 11b I'd recommend to a beginning 5.11 leader. However, I did find plenty of gear placements that I more or less felt comfortable with. I didn't feel it was height dependent. I am short.

Comments: There's a baby pigeon that appears to have just hatched this morning (Tuesday, August 21) to the right of the belay at the bottom of pitch 4 of the Edge. Watch where you stack your ropes. It's cute. Little yellow thing with a bobbling head.

Location: CO : Alpine Rock : RMNP - Rock : Glacier Gorge : Arrowhead : Arrowplane (5.11a) By: Lizzy Scully When: Jul 23, 2007 | view comment >> |
Comments: Arrowplane was one of the best routes I've ever done in the Park. Regarding the first statement posted on this page: It's true that the first pitch is spicy and there are a few other run out moves (before the short 10c pitch, for example), but there's solid gear all over that thing. Also, I thought the route finding was straightforward (using topos from Bernard Gillett's guide book), and the route was clean and gorgeous. I was really impressed with the quality of the cracks. I didn't find the cr... more >>
