Comments: The closest area on MP would be Courtright, but I've already said too much! Send me a message if anyone wants to know more.

Comments: Why is this picture on the Kings Canyon page? Cool pic of a beautiful area, but it's not in the park.

Comments: Thanks! And thanks for the new register up there! Ya, no more carrying two ropes out there as long as you have a 70. As far as I know there hasn't been a second ascent but I know of a few people that want to go try to free it.

I still need to get more familiar with the lower approach that you and Rene' have figured out pretty well. But PO scares me...

Comments: The base of North Mountain is over three miles wide from Hotel Creek on the west to Granite Creek on the east and has several large cliffs where it drops into Kings Canyon. When Highway 180 passes over a bridge for the last time to the north side of the Kings River and a dirt road branches off look up to see the walls of the right (east) end of North Mountain. The majority of the climbs are in this area roughly between the horse corrals to the west and Granite Creek to the east.

Comments: "We finished the 8th pitch to the left of the chimney and belayed from a tree that begins a manzanita-filled gully.....Does anyone know of a better route out of there?"

Ya. On the 8th (last) pitch only follow the crack out right for a few meters, then head up/left to a large left facing corner. Follow the corner, past a small tree, as far as you want until you feel like walking. Much more aesthetic, well protected and straightforward way to finish in my opinion.

Great route!

Comments: Super great route, here are a few things FYI

-If the first pitch is clogged with tree routers there's a fun bolted variation just to the left. Walk a bit past tree route and follow a line of bolts (5.7/5.8ish) up to a bolted belay below the finger crack of p2 (you can use this belay either way and then you don't have to bring anything bigger than a #1). For more info click here.

Comments: Ya it sounds like Welcome To Big Baldy from my description but this climb is on the south east face and WTBB is on the south end of the west face. This climb has a much easier first pitch and was done after the old SEKI guide was published which is why I don't know who did it.

Comments: The approach is about 15 miles, but pretty level and easy most of the way. There are half a dozen or so big aid lines on the main face and a few hard free lines on those towers to the right. The first free route on the main formation went up this year at 5.12 (most pitches were 5.10 or 5.11 though).

Comments: Someone should add a "Domelands" area and then put this formation under that. Domeland WIlderness definitely deserves to be it's own area! I've only hiked out there and haven't climbed yet so I'm not the person to make that page.

Word has it the snowfield above this climb slides easy, so everyone watch out for high avalanche danger after storms!

Comments: I've climbed all over this face and for the most part there is decent protection and good rock. It's mostly two pitches, 5.9 or easier and a fun place to explore!
