Comments: For those of you who are wondering...this climb is on the rock to the LEFT of the slab where Five Cart Draw and Silver Stage sit.

Comments: I agree. The retro-bolting on Five Cart Draw was well done, Clint. It's a fun climb, and made all the more fun w/ the safe bolting.

Comments: Really fun route. I'd call the start harder than 5.7 though, especially for short people.

Comments: Yes, great song (I'm a Townes Van Zandt fan myself). The guys in Silverton consider this a 5.9 and I could see that. Though most of it felt 5.7-5.8, there's a short section near the top of the first pitch that could go 9.

Comments: My apologies, but I did not climb this, so I'm awaiting more beta. Turns out I climbed the 5.9 at Goldrush last summer and not the 5.7 here. My apologies.

Comments: Does this also go by Ellingwood Arete? If so, this must be Crestone Needle, no?

Comments: Doug, nice to see you on Mountain Project. Are you climbing w/ double ropes here? What do you use? 5.8s? (If yes, then what's your philosophy on using double ropes (if you have one and this isn't some anomaly I'm viewing)? Use when alpine routes wonder? Loose rock? - Lee Frazer (formerly of Hoofers Office)

Location: CO : Durango : East Animas : Far Left : Triple Tree Direct (5.8) By: Lee Frazer When: Jun 15, 2009 | view comment >> |
Comments: Fun route! Can climb it safely without girthing the trees (which will only damage them).

Location: CO : Durango : East Animas : Watch Crystal : Left Picto (5.8) By: Lee Frazer When: Jun 15, 2009 | view comment >> |
Comments: This climb's more awkward than it looks. Harder than 5.8 for sure!

Location: CO : Durango : Golf Wall : Driving Range : Golf Widow (5.9-) By: Lee Frazer When: Jun 11, 2009 | view comment >> |
Comments: This isn't a 5.9- start. More like 10b. After that, sure, I'd call it 5.9-.

Comments: Chris, I'm going to try to get up there in the next 3 days to climb these routes. Will take a camera and note pad to take down better directions ...and then post to MP! Stay tuned.

Comments: Not a bad trad lead either, though the 5.8 section is over quick.
