Comments: Climbed this route just recently. Really solid line. Consistent moves the whole way. I thought the bolt spacing was perfect. Tic Rock is a fun, relaxing place to climb with many options. BTW, on the ride down the canyon partner found a tick on his arm....

Comments: I don't believe there will be much climbing for many months in or near the Big Thompson Canyon. Bummer! My thoughts & prayers for all those living in the BTC, Sylvan Dale, Drake, and Glen Haven. These are my favorite places on earth, and I hate to see them so devastated by the flood waters. I'll be looking for any opportunities to help clean up and re-build what was lost.

Comments: Partner Joe and I climbed this ridge but stayed @ 70' to the right of the normal route. (North Face / North Ridge) This was a good line and had a few more 5.7 moves as well as an exposed 5.8+ chimney to squeeze through near the top of the climb. Weather was threatening all day but held out just long enough for us to get off the summit. Sometimes things actually work out. Great day!

Comments: Climbed lower and upper falls evening of 3/16/12. Warm weather made for exciting river x-ing. Lower falls was in but sounding a bit hollow. Upper still in but a lot of melting going on. It was 55 degrees up there at 7pm.

Comments: From what I heard, a gal lost her footing while lowering and swung into the ice, hurting her hip enough to need a rescue. She was climbing with a group guided by CMS.

Comments: The maze of logs piled up on the approach to the upper falls has been cleared. On the 19th of Feb., there was a rescue at the Big T ice climb, and many trees had to be removed in order for S&R to get the individual down the mtn.

Comments: NO ice on the Upper or Lower BTC falls. First time that I know of that no ice has been reported on the Upper flow.

Hey Josh, good stuff going on at SD!

Comments: Jim Disney calls this section with the overhang 'A1 Roof'. Jim gave a bit of history about this rock a few years ago. Across the river from this area and just a bit to the west is crag known as 'The Erection'. As far as the spider goes Al, it wasn't far from the size of an orange....plus it had orange markings on it. Nasty damn thing. Definitely made the climb a grade or two harder.

Comments: I'm looking forward to watching the D-backs shiver on Sundays game.
It's shaping up to be a cool, rainy day :) Go Rockies!
Rocktober is definitely fitting this year, in more ways than one.
Take a day off mid-week, go to Lumpy and enjoy.

Comments: My partner Russ and I climbed this fine route on 9-27-07
We started in the Right Chimney, did the lower traverse below Arch Crack, then tackled the entire 5.6 crack. Really fun climb with lots of good gear. #4 Camalot came in handy more than once.
If you're a beginning trad leader, do this climb; compares to Batman Pinnacle as far as difficulty goes.

Comments: This is a fun, short crack climb with some slab moves towards the top. If you wish, traverse left for several feet when the crack ends. Then climb straight up the thin slab towards the anchors.

Comments: I am told by John and his wife Jeri...(she is actually the landowner) this cabin has been in her family for 6 generations. Her grandfather was one of the first doctors in Loveland. Last name was Wright. Their cabin is called 'Roughin' it Wright.' John and Jeri's last name is Ruff.
Anyway....they have informed me that they would like to see the bolts painted to better match the rock and to have at least the one bolt nearest the smiley face crack removed. The smiley face is located towards t... more >>

Comments: Route is a good one. Whoever bolted it did a nice job. However, it could have gone with about 4 or 5 less bolts. (Two bolts are near a very nice crack.) I had a chance to meet with the landowners, they are indeed some very nice people. Thankfully they are not the type of folk to have a knee jerk reaction about the many bolts now placed on their rock. They could have easily put up "no trespassing" signs. More time needs to be spent finding out about access issues before bolting and climbin... more >>

Comments: This is probably the best route in BTC.
After the last bolt you can either stay to the right or break slightly left for a bit more excitement. Good gear when the bolts disappear. This climb is easliy done as one pitch.
