Comments: Absolutely LOVED this climb; I think for the incredible views upon finishing. Make sure you have at least a 60m rope as this is the longest route. EnjoY!!!

Comments: Easier than 'Big-Nosed Kate' - I do believe (as well as the others in our party) that the crux started around bolt #3 to just below bolt #5; some really awesome moves that are a big different than the slopey moves of some of the others.

  • *PLEASE READ**
Please note that this is a condition report.
As of today, January 6, 2012 - there is a loose block of boulders on this route. There is a chalked 'X' on the loose block that can be seen from the ground looking up, however, the chalked 'X' is quite difficult to see while actually climbing - so please observe keenly. The loose block is left of the 2nd constriction before you climb up out of sight. I personally do not even use the left side when pulling up over the constriction but... more >>

Comments: Leading this gets your blood pumping a bit - you need to commit to the the 'crux' bulge move after the 4th bolt to successfully complete it. A fall here would not be bad like a fall would be elsewhere. FUN and EXPOSED = )

Comments: Great climb! Crux is def the bottom two bolts as it is slightly over hanging and there are some hard moves - but once one has it dialed it should not be bad at all. The climbing above these two bolts is 5.8/5.8- and very fun - some great moves and some thin moves as well. 8 bolts total.

Comments: Loved this climb! Great to follow the white streak. The route is easier than it looks from the ground as the bottom bolts have thin but very nicely textured holds. Cannot see the fifth bolt until you are close to it. The climbing above the last bolt is run-out but easy climbing gets one to the chains B4 you know it!

Comments: More fun than Beavis. Crux is between the 5th bolt and the chains (5th through 6th and just a bit above the 6th to be clear); however the crux is over once you are able to grab the nicely sized jugs. Use the diagonal crack for feet and hands to get through the crux. Very different route compared to all the others at Barnum - i.e. - more slabby, larger holders, greater use of large cracks.

Comments: Crux is between the last bolt - bolt 4 of 4 - and the chains as the moves are pretty thin. I lead this route to the right of the bolts but the finish will take you left. Traversing across from the right-hand side to the chains has a few small crimps and pinches but you are there before you know it. Fun route and pretty sustained.

Comments: Lead Ranger Danger - great fun! Looks harder from the ground than it actually is. Trend to the right for the first and second bolts to keep the route about 5.7/5.7- as going to the left will make the route about 5.10+. The fun part is going over the roof and the crux is to the 4th bolt as there are few holds and you are exposed before cruising over to the "safety" above the roof. This route is short and sweet and the view is stunning; especially at sunset on a fall day!

Comments: Route on the 'open book'. Not a sustained 5.7; more like a 5.6+ with hardest move a 5.7. I think the crux of the route is between the 2nd and 3rd bolt (of 5 total). Between the last bolt and chains is a lil' mini crux.

Comments: Started out to the left - this creates the first crux. I went to the right after leading on TR and tried climbing up the right side and this method does away with the crux. Anyhow, there is a nice, big ledge before the top half continues in a V-shape. I did not locate a good place to put gear as stated in "Squeezing the Lemmon" and the bolts were not any more run-out than the others - five bolts total. The second crux is towards the top as there are few holds and very small holds. Super fun rout... more >>

Comments: Route looks easy from the ground but is harder once you start to lead/climb. The beginning is slabby but there are some nice holds; better to trend to the right. Continue up to the small roof where there are some nice jugs; surely helps to be taller rather than shorter. The crux is towards the top between the last bolt and the chains. There is a small horn for both hand and foot use but there is not much else until you reach above the chains for the jugs there. FUN route - def... more >>

Comments: I skipped the 5th bolt. I am still pretty new to outdoor sport climbing and I think this is a great climb for someone in the same boat! Did a few of the routes off to the right and there are not nearly as many bolts (two for MachineGun)-however- the climbs are not nearly as high - 20 to 30ft less.

Comments: This was my second outdoor lead climb ever; easier than the first as I was comforted in knowing what to do upon reaching the chains. The is an ideal climb for a first time lead especially with the ledge in there- gives one a moment to celebrate their courage!

Comments: Twisted Gumby was my first lead climbing outdoors! Great climb for a first timer; however, the height of the cliff plus the height above the Mt.Lemmon highway makes one feel quite high in the sky so it may be somewhat intimidating for a new climber. This route holds a special place in my heart!
