Comments: Just learned the credit for this stunning transformation of Sandstone goes to Jeff Engel, Matt Giambrone, and James Loveridge. They set up and ran the sprinkler system. Hats off!

Comments: Burt, we were simply stunned at how much ice there was. The city has installed an Ourey-like sprinkler system to farm ice. It is incredible. And, apparently, it was even better in January -- one solid wall of ice.

Comments: Burt, the lower section is now fat and a lot of fun. Then it's little verglassy for ~30 ft, then it gets steep and hooky at the end. But the route is in great shape this year. I wouldn't even get on it if it wasn't for Dave Rone.

Comments: Thanks Peter. North Shore is awesome. Not many places in the US combine water, cliffs, and hard climbing.

Comments: Thanks Burt. The finish is definitely the meat of this climb. Slopers, weird feet, and a chance of a respectable fall :)

Comments: I appreciate your comments, guys. I didn't realize fisheye lens makes skies so dramatic (although, because of the bulging front, you can't add polarizer to it).

Comments: I was not making fun. You can't quite tell it'sa top rope. I looked at the pic and seriously thought "damn, he led this!!". Followed by "wait a minute, where's the gear??". Like Burt said: 20 (at least) bouldering pads and pillows, numerous climbing helmets placed on key body parts, and a deployable baloon.

Comments: Quite heady. Falling at the crux would definitely mean extended hospital stay (not to mention destroyed polo). And that assuming the manky Alien held. Definitely one of the craziest FFA's I've witnessed. Isaac, Henning -- you guys got my respect for sure. Nough said.

Comments: Hi yak, I appreciate your concerns but I am against censorship at Mountain Project (besides the obvious: obscenities, etc.). This photo shows someone who was more scrambling around than climbing in the park -- Chris happened to walk by and snap the picture. If you go to Goosberry on the busy weekend, you'll see plenty of tourists walking/scrambling on the ledgy rocks by the falls. I don't know the guy in the picture but he is hardly a climber (basketball shoes, no chalkbag, no harness). Also, ... more >>

Comments: Ryan, back in the day, you mean even before 90's and 80's ? I'd also suggest this debate is kept between climbers only -- without involving the park officials.
