Comments: My partner and I thought the crux was moving from the gold flake into the corner. The layback moves up to the anchor are more insecure, but seemed easier.

Yet the guidebook shows the lower move off the gold flake as just 5.10. Were we doing it wrong? What do others think?

Comments: This first bolt seems to be in an awkward spot. Climbing directly up to it is sketchy, with a bit of a groundfall. It is slightly easier climbing up to the right of it, but this part hasn't been cleaned, and it puts one in a stretchy position to clip.

I guess you need to be pretty good to even try it!

Comments: Bizarre rock formation. How solid is it?

Also, where is the location of the route?

Comments: The "small turnout" is about the third one on the left. Upon starting the trail, note a large, right-facing boulder-face on the left.

Comments: I tried some of the moves just below and over the roof -- very thin cranking below the roof, pumpy slopers just above.

Comments: Very fun route, especially the last few moves.
Compared to the other moderate on the wall, The Black Flag..., this route has more rests and seems slightly easier.

Comments: Hi Chris,
I was hoping to add a bolt to the start of the traverse crack, cleaning off an easier start, and giving it a try again, maybe later this week.

Last time, I had the same experience as you. Fantastic finishing moves. Glad you like it. But no, I haven't heard of anyone else trying it.

Comments: The third pitch is really nice climbing, but has old, rusty 1/4" bolts.
The anchor at the top of this pitch has 4 old, rusty, and loose 1/4" bolts. The 4th pitch looks fantastic (I didn't do it, being freaked by the belay bolts...), but also appears to have old 1/4" bolts.

As mentioned above, the first two (or one full-length) pitches have nice 3/8" stainless bolts. Very fun.

Comments: Oh geez Sean, that sounds really bad. Sorry to hear it. And I wish there was some way you could get the cams back.

I haven't heard about Index being 'rough around the edges', just a little different. There were the squatters camped out indefinitely across from the parking lot for awhile, and Andy DeKlerk mentioned some strange things in the woods awhile back, but I haven't experienced anything rough or impolite about the climbers.

But it certainly wouldn't hurt for all of us to be extra-welc... more >>

Comments: So, what should the name of this crag be

1) BBDD,

2) Blob Below Domestic Dome,

3) Ty's Butt-ress,

or

4) Something else?

Is it definitely going to be named 1) or 2) in the next published guidebook, and if so, which is it? I understand 1) is an acronym for 2), but one should still decide whether it is the full name or the acronym that gets listed.

Also, are the posted route names the same ones given by the guy who first cleaned the lines?

I'll make the changes if people can agree...

Comments: I was wondering more about the yellow line for Twitterpated, which goes off the right edge of the image.

As this shows more of Snugglefuk, should I move the image over to that route? Or, if you prefer, I may be able to copy the image over.

Thanks for posting! It motivates me to visit this area.
