I actually like to take the bus from LA, line 545(?) which drops you off right near the top of the point, or sometimes, at PCH/Heathercliff.

You can muscle your way up, but the good ones, I noticed, use balance. Great thing is that the handholds appear just when you need them. Don't waste too much energy getting up to the hollow stemming area about mid-way.
