Comments: Max, I stopped there today and it looked the same to me. Maybe others can weigh in but I didn't see anything that looked different from the last time I was there (couple weeks ago).

Comments: What's the project up the hill and behind the Normandy wall. Big cool overhang up on the hill, looks hard but really good...

Location: Rhode Island : Lincoln Woods : Pond Cave : Leap Frog Variation (V9)

Comments: There are a couple variations now, but the direct start without the ledge underneath was generally considered to be V9ish. Matt's variation(s) start more to the left.

Comments: So, from the new parking lot for the bikepath, walk south along the bike path and take the first trail on the left (should be about 1/3 mile from the lot and maybe 200 or 300 feet BEFORE Tom Sawyer). Once past the swampy area on the right, take a trail on the right and continue just above the swampy area until you see this boulder (not sure exactly how far in it is, but it isn't too far).

Comments: Sounds like this should just be called Warhawk Direct. It really sounds like the same start but just straight up the arete??? Have to try this out, it sounds like a good problem.

Comments: It was better than I expected. Kind of rough but the three spots listed here are decent. There seems to be a lot more rock out there, but I didn't have tons of time for hiking around.

Comments: Anyone have any info on the problem on the lower wall along the stream? I started sitting on two low pockets (which weren't obvious until I sat down), long left hand move to good hold in middle of the face and then a big move to the top of the boulder. Decent problem in a cool spot.

Comments: Sink or Swim is the very cool arete (the right side of the wall facing the pond) left of where I was refering. The overhang I'm referring to is right of Sink or Swim...

Comments: Yeah, the rock is like the right side of the same rock formation as the pond cave (if looking into the cave from the pond). Has anyone climbed the high overhanging face with the ledge fall potential right when you walk up to the pond cave?

Comments: Also, funny that this wall gets added with two eliminates when there are 6 to 8 good non-eliminate problems on this wall. Granted all of them are V0 or V1 but there are lots of interesting holds on this wall.

Comments: Very contrived but climbs well. Would be good to include in the description which holds are off as well as those that are on, especially the huge sidepull and big horn jug that you climb past.

Comments: Glad to see the start move of this done as I had tried it years and years ago. Fun first move. Several footholds broke, including a big flake that I tried to heel hook. I didn't use the big heel hook shown in the video, I just climbed it straight on using the indicated holds.

Comments: Mark, this is the wall just to the left as you approach the Pond cave. Can you change the name to the Fish and Chips wall? I think Matt's problems are new as they are very contrived. They climb well, but you really need to follow the instructions.

Location: Rhode Island : Lincoln Woods : Busy Child Boulder : Busy Child (V8)
By: Joe M. When: Feb 5, 2013

Comments: Seems to be lots of misinformation about how to do this problem. It is certainly contrived and really only V8 when done properly. The line in the photo roughly follows where the hands should be during the left to right traverse. These really are the lowest holds that can be used to get around the corner, which is the crux. Using any of the higher holds makes it way easer...
