Comments: I agree with Nick's comments and assure you that he is aware of and respects the nebulous history of bouldering out there. I do not think secrecy is a sustainable, long-term plan for protecting resources be it camping or climbing. I think that perhaps the argument of secrecy is at heart derived from a more selfish goal of keeping a location, area, boulder, etc. to yourself and/or your group of cronies. Perhaps secrecy may delay an influx of people, but I doubt that any amount of online spraying ... more >>

Comments: The Mystery of the Desert's post sounds a lot like the vitriol I recieved from one Albert Newman when I posted an area... I have much empathy for Dennis's reasoning and comments!

Comments: This really is an awesome route that should get some traffic. Anchors (courtesy of ASCA) have been replaced and make for an easy rope pull.

Comments: You can either do a second pitch or just do one long pitch and get to a second pair of anchors high in the crack system. A good crack on some good rock makes a nice long pitch!

Comments: This is a great route that is on a good chunk of rock. The two pitches offer very different and unique climbing. In hindsight, the 1st pitch belay should have been moved slightly out of the way. Regardless, it is a great route put up with a great friend!

Comments: Great addition to the crag! Fun Moves and good protection. I used a few larger sizes of C3s and a small nut at the crux.

Comments: I just got back from Chiang Mai, and before spending a week here was at the Railey and Tonsai Beach. Though Tonsai and other beach crags have the wonderful addition of their location coupled with good climbing, I found that the crowds and over all attitude of climbers there to majorly detract from the climbing. Chiang Mai is the opposite of this. What it lacks in beaches it gains with good people and a fun location. I found the Heart wall to be my favorite and spent two days there doing the majo... more >>

Comments: This is a classic! I would say it is in the top 10 for The Monument for sure. I found climbing the corner high and past the ledge you grab to place gear made the move to the bolt less heady. Have a blue Metolius for after the bolt! Worth the short hike over there! After you clip the chains, flick the rope out of the crack.

Comments: Great rock and amazing sequences that slap you around. The slightly overhanging rock was a great find by the Piz. He knew what it was since the first time he laid eyes on it. Climbing the Pleasure Pillar was the reconnaissance mission.

Comments: This route has tons of good movement over generally good rock. With a few more ascents, the small flakes that are here and there will come off and it will be in great shape!

Comments: The climb got a bolt update (thanks to ASCA) and a new summit register as of 10/15/2011. Raps should go: two rope rap to the anchor on the ledge at the top of pitch 3. One rope rap to anchors for pitch two. Two rope rap (or 70m rope) to the ground.

Comments: The exposure is wonderful, and the moves are awesome on some good steep rock. Doing the Pleasure Pillar to access the climb is the way to go. Sets you up at the luxury belay ledge.
