Comments: I'm not sure if this is the best way, but we looped webbing around the boulder that is the highest point in the caves. Then we used the webbing as protection in case we fell when getting onto the boulder with the bolts for the anchor. If anyone knows a better way, please post it!

Comments: I found these directions from rockclimbinghawaii.com to be useful in finding the path to the wall:

Take H-2 north (or go west from Haleiwa) and follow the signs to Waialua on the northwest shore of Oahu. Drive past Waialua and Dillingham Airfield with its skydive center and glider airport. Continue driving until you past the YMCA Camp Erdman facility located on both sides of the highway. At this point, you will want to drive only about another 1,000 feet or so, at which point the ocean and s... more >>

Comments: I thought the roof was one of the easier parts of the route, technically speaking, although your arms are a little pumped by the time you get up there!

Comments: I did a sit start to this problem, which was definitely the crux.

Comments: Classic problem, very fun and a good warmup. If you are traversing from right to left, the second half of the traverse is made a lot easier by using a series of heel hooks.

Comments: Fun, short stemming route. Good warmup if you do it a couple of times.

Comments: This route has a very hard start but is extremely easy afterwards.

Comments: Yes, the anchor situation is the same now (in 2009). Luckily this rock doesn't seem to get as much traffic as other areas in Castle Rock.

Comments: Very easy, though it would be a long fall without a rope.

Comments: I set a top rope on this route by threading some webbing (2 15' foot pieces of webbing) through a small tunnel in the rock at the top. There were a few different spots you could choose to thread. We had to downclimb each time on the 5.4 (or there's another, equally easy route straight down the center) to avoid too much friction on the rope.

The views are spectacular!
