Comments: I love how deceptive the views around Eldo are. What appears to be tall continuous walls is usually a combination of the West Ridge and the Redgarden looking to the east from the back of the park, or in this case, the Redgarden and the Bastille.

Comments: Huge crowds last weekend. I've never seen more than just a few parties up here in the past. Fortunately, everyone was climbing really hard, making it easy to move around between the moderates (10s and easy 11s).

Seeing the bolting on the stiffer lines, I'm encouraged to get on something more challenging.

No cell reception at the crag, but just west of the entrance to the campground (~3/4mile) is a high point on the road where reception is excellent.

Comments: I couldn't do the last hard move to the flake on TR. Granted, I was pretty worked from the other routes to the left.

Comments: A short walk around the (climber's) right and slightly uphill of SGW is another wall with a handful of bolted routes. Is there any info on these routes?

Comments: Beautiful!
It must have been a nice spring which induces well established colonies to send off swarms; this helps them control their numbers and ability to not outgrow their current home.

Unfortunately though, most swarms never make it through the following fall as they very often find unprotected places like this to move into (or worse yet, an attic). As soon as there are a couple of cool nights, these guys all die because of all of the exposure and their inability to tolerate the c... more >>

Comments: More than helpful. Look back to my original query; I must have been feeling silly that day.

None the less, awesome to hear of how your used them blocks aside from the obvious fact they served as protection.

Comments: Has anyone free soloed the route?
5.4 is typically a very casual solo, but some of the reviews leave me wondering if this routes deserves a run on rope first.

Comments: TR'd this after putting up Diving for Kipper Snacks and had a blast. The dirty rock made for some interesting foot pops. With the creek being low this year, it's perfect for checking out this climb.

Comments: Wholly smokes, Batman! Why didn't anyone mention that the pin on the upper part of the first pitch is gone? Just about shat myself today when I got up there with a qd & no gear. Pucker factor of 9.3 after cranking the run-out 5.9 section & realizing that I had to continue running it out to the anchor.

Comments: I felt like this was a 5.7 climb bolted for the 5.11 leader. Not a good warm up in that regard.

Comments: So sad to see so little respect for the rock.

A couple of question for you:
-How's this climb going to look in 20 years if folks keep dry tooling it?

-How will your grandchildren associate with areas like these when there far from pristine? Will it be possible for them to hold the place in awe for its natural wonder? Or will they be distracted by toll taken through the lack of respect from previous visitors?
