Well, my parents knew they were screwed at an early age: my first real word was "outside" (it was that important that I just skipped right past the easy one syllable words). Even today, I don't really care what I am doing, I just want to be outside. While I enjoy staying physically fit, I especially appreciate the mental challenges I find in the wilderness.
I work full time as an engineer, and all volunteer (seemingly full time) as an EMT/Rescue Technician for the local mountain rescue team. Mountain rescue is a great way to be challenged mentally and physically. Its also a great excuse to go places most other people never get to see (but we don't get to see them either, since it always seems to be dark).
I'm always up to having fun with new people.
The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
"The heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight, but they, while their companions slept, were toiling upward in the night."
-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
"No one automatically gives you respect just because you show up. You have to earn it."
