Comments: Facing the correct direction coming out of the "pod" will make the thin move inconsequential. After that, you're rewarded with great pro of almost any size and much easier moves on good holds to the top. Crux is definitely down low on this one. Fantastic route, maybe the best at Beauty in the 5.10 range.

Comments: Weird, when I looked at this yesterday, none of that info was there. It was blank. Apologies and thanks for the addition.

Comments: This is the second route with this "do it without a rope or it doesn't count" comment. Let's just drop trou and compare dicks and skip the nonsense. If you're a badass, then people will know, and there's no need for this type of personal hyperbole. There are a few badasses that live in the region, and they're all super humble guys and gals. You could learn a thing or two from them.

Comments: I've heard that often about the start of this route. It's a pullup on good holds to either a heel or a high step. I don't think it's a V2 move though. If it was, this route would garner at least a 5.10a- a difficulty that's just not there. It feels a bit heady because it is a move that requires some effort, and you're still below the first bolt which is a bit high. It's not V2 though. Most people, if they're at all sketched, will stick that somewhat high first bolt. Do that, have your bel... more >>

Comments: I was blown away by the quality of not only the rock and problems in this park, but the aesthetic quality, ambience and manicured nature of the park itself. Thanks for all your effort and hard work with regard to establishment, documentation and access, Aaron. This place is a gem.

Comments: As of April 2014, most if not all of those routes are equipped completely with hardware and have solid hangers and anchors. I looked at/climbed most of the ones you mention on that list. A friend and I personally tightened hangers on Belly of the Whale and Super Amazing Sea Monkeys. The state of the crag is, as far as I know, open and climbable. Please be kind to the area and if you see something that needs to be packed out, please do so. Thanks in advance, and have fun. It's a cool little... more >>

Comments: I was deceived by both the route and the party that got on before me. They were clearly stronger. The bottom was very insecure (for me). I got exactly one good fist in that entire ~20 feet. I did the Wham Bam variation. Once you hit the traverse jugs, it's as if you've been pleasantly rewarded for the grovelfest below it. I love this route.

Comments: NRG "proper" refers to rock on both the north and south sides of the New River. This includes many crags and sub areas. It's huge. We're talking miles and miles of cliff line. Probably the most difficult place for access concerning dogs is Endless Wall. It can be accessed only by steel ladders bolted in place, or via rappel. Other areas like Fern, Beauty Mtn, Kaymoor, Bubba City, etc. can be accessed by foot trail. If you're going to be there for a few days, stop by Waterstone (the local ... more >>

Comments: I'd give this rig 4 stars if it wasn't for the slimy OW finish. Slick fists at the bottom are rewarded by jugs and good horizontals right when you need them. Great rests, variety of movement and all around fun. Superb route.

Comments: Don, dogs are ok at Stone. Leashed is probably best, but most climbers will be on the slab and not bouldering so use your best judgement. Climbers pass through the boulder field on the south face to get to roped routes though, so there's that. As far as the book, I try to support an area and all the establishment and documenting efforts when I can- one of the best ways to do that is to buy the guidebook. Aaron and Dan B. have put tons of work into it and it's a quality publication. Not to m... more >>

Comments: Yes, it counts, and it is punishable by $5,000 fine. From the latest Williams guidebook for the area: "Cliff jumping is defined as entering the lake from a height greater than one's own." Please do not do this if you are a climber. If you want to be a badass, get on routes above your ability and take massive whips. Don't jeopardize things for the rest of us.
