● South East Face of Eisenhower Tower
Sep 16, 2023 · Lead / Onsight. Descent: scramble down to rap station from top. From topmost rings (1) the next rap station is to the right. From those rings (2) the next one down is to the left (3). However, you can also rap straight down with a 70 and then do some east scrambling down to the ridge (low fifth class). Head down and skiers right to the rap at the top of the rib (4). From there, the next rap (5) is about 25 meters and climbers right. That will take you to the scree bowl. Go down the scree bowl ALL THE WAY until you reach a band of chunky rock that has red lichen and yellowish rock above it. This is where you traverse right to get to the rap rings on the face. You can do two rappels without a 70. Then walk back to the rings at the top of the crack. From here rappel the gully to the east. You can get all the way to the ground in two raps with a 70 meter rope. You’ll reach the ground in a place you haven’t been yet, but you’ll walk very close to the base on the way down if you want to leave stuff. Walk climbers left and back the way you came!
