Comments: For clarification; the route Rainbow Highway, as described above, cannot be rappelled with a single 70m rope. Apparently with the addition of anchors for the route "Sinners on Sunday", this section of the Black Wall can now be rapped with a single 70m. Wally is an experienced climber, and I personally trust his input. However, I felt this note needed to be added so folks know that you can't go anchor to anchor on Rainbow Highways anchors alone.

Comments: Hi Helen.

It appears you linked pitch 1 and 2.
I'm not sure which picture you're referring to, but if you look at the one labeled "starting pitch #2", you'll see the bolt and where you head left.

I saw your blog on the accident you and your partner had, sorry to hear that she was injured.

The picture you posted of your partner right before she pulled off the block isn't the start of pitch 2. It doesn't appear to be on route at all. Sorry if some confusion led to her injury.

Also I'm c... more >>

Comments: I'm super stoked you guys climbed that crack!
I noticed it back in 2010 when we first climbed Emerald. I spent months zooming in on pictures trying to find a line that would be worthy of that crack.
I decided the only way to know for sure would be to rappel down and have a look.

That recon ended up being Rainbow Highway. I rapped down the finger crack on SoS and couldn't find a good way to negotiate the slab to get there. With the climbing we'd found above and the effort cleaning and equipping ... more >>

Comments: "Tan Buttress looks dry, the descent to the base of the wall might be challenging today with all of the snow."

A nice little trick to avoid the snow is to rap in Via Fallen Angel.

Comments: Nope...It was added as part of a thread where we were all running the route for time...I tripped and was sharing it with the other people involved.
Was it worth your time to ask?

Comments: Actually. The rumor about those bolts on the final pitch is; supposedly someone thought they were doing a new route.
If that's the case: They may not have had the balls of the FA's, but they weren't out and out disrespecting them. As was implied.
Should they go? Meh. I think the real question is; at this point does it really matter either way?

Comments: So, from looking at your pictures and reading your description, I think you have some geography confused.

What you went up was the approach to get into the upper part of the Gemstone gully. You may have continued up the upper part of Gemstone gully before starting your route.
Then, from your descent description, it sounds very much like you descended Gemstone Gully. If you take a look at some of the other Gemstone gully photos, on this site, you'll see it.
Just seems like you migt have gotten c... more >>

Comments: Thanks for adding this, Ken.
I agree that the proper name for the area should be used. With all due respect to the person who submitted "Lincoln's Wall"...he didn't realize routes had been done there years before and the area had a name.

Cheers,

Comments: Huh. I wonder why Handren has them listed at the Mall? Could be confusing...as it was for me when I looked through several different places on MP and couldn't find them.
Maybe someone should just move the previous descriptions to "the mall" in the data base and delete these? I could careless about who enters what, it just might clean up finding the routes alittle bit?

Comments: Interesting Scott.
The sign at the trailhead is exactly the same type of sign the BLM uses at all of their other trailheads and they list it on their website as a reccomended hike. There are also BlM like signs marking a fork in the trail a mile or so in. Wouldn't surprise me to much though, it's not like the BLM has ever really been on top of things. You'd know better then most of us though! (sidenote; Dude! we still need to get out. You are right up the road these days.)

a theory or system of social organization based on the holding of all property in common, actual ownership being ascribed to the community as a whole or to the state."

Sure sounds an awful lot like your rantings.

You don't get it and you never will. So there is no point in discussing any of it with you.I hope you enjoy being in a community that, as a whole, thinks you are a... more >>

An excellent point.

SPLT, red tag, coward, What ever your real name is.

You're a communist? Weird. Don't you know that doesn't work?
Well unless you THINK someone asks you nicely... then you can do whatever you like....according to you.

Comments: Funny thing is...there was no argument. So...your clever attempt at humor just isn't that funny.
Your constant use of things like the above graphic, and lack of useful contributions, well they speak for themselves.

Again...you should try climbing this route. Then come back and tell us about YOUR experience.

Now that's a funny concept!

...oh and removing previous comments then adding something else...that's just cowardly and weird.

JoshJ....Thanks for adding the description...looks like you ... more >>

Comments: To be clear.

There was no threat of violence by me. Period.
There was simply a fact stated that should the knucklehead above do what he said here:
"If I see a red tag I will cut it off, get on the route and tic all of the bad holds. If the "owner" was there I would get on, just to see what would happen."

Then this:
"..when you cross the wrong person with the wrong red tagged route...you'll most certainly see "what happens". I hope your head is thick enough for that."

...is possible.

So stop... more >>

Chris, I have little doubt. I've heard some very good things. But for the sake of argument, it does make an easy target, No?

I may very well take you up on that offer one day. I'd also return it...when you're out here drop me a line.

Comments: Classic case of a Noob who just doesn't get it.

Don't you have a silent partner somewhere to go reinvent and act like it hasn't already been figured out before?

I can tell you this..when you cross the wrong person with the wrong red tagged route...you'll most certainly see "what happens". I hope your head is thick enough for that.

I don't need to measure myself to anyone....but when you want to act all high and mighty...well sometimes you need your peepee smacked. Sure seems like you can't h... more >>
