Comments: Climber in the obvious cleft with the white helmet is climbing a 5.5, it is possible to lead this route. Follow the runnel and the bomber bolt line, going straight up the vertical face is probably 5.12+/13

Comments: Getting to this crag is difficult to say the least - unless you live on Chiba Peninsula. The crag parking lot is half way up a ridiculously short toll road and it is absolutely forbidden to walk on the toll road. Believe me I tried. The road is guarded top and bottom and in between.
I hesitate to mention this but I'd rather give beta that could prevent someone from getting hurt who's crazy enough to find an alternate solution (like me) to access this cliff. There is a possible access point abov... more >>

Comments: Additional parking can be found here 35.307829, 139.601664 (although you will need to hike a bit further)

Alternately you can take the Keikyu (KQ) to Keikyutaura Station and access the trail here 35.300348, 139.619099 after walking through the pedestrian tunnel here 35.299520, 139.622049

Lat/Long are approximate. Remember you are responsible for obeying all posted signs and Japanese laws.

Comments: In an effort to steer you to the best climbs in the area and away from the ones that have less than ideal rock conditions I created the Choss Grade (CG) scale. All routes I post will include this scale.

CG0 = Granite/Bomber (FYI - none of the route in Takatori Yama will have a CG0 grade)
CG1 = Solid rock mostly, an occasional hand hold or foothold will crumble or have sand in/on it. Falls are not likely.
CG2 = Over 50% of the holds will most likely crumble (either hands or feet). Falls are alm... more >>

Comments: Very unlikely, not unless you had 100 year conditions... I never saw ice in it. Try Camp Creek or the next two or three canyons to the East (heading towards Galena Peak)

Comments: The picture doesn't show the dozen plus folks under the tree hanging out - taken on a Tuesday... You can imagine what a Saturday looks like

Comments: SCherry - I'd probably head up to Thomas Hunting Grounds
The dirt road (1N12) to access this area starts right next to the General Store in Angeles Oaks. Also Seven Oaks has a campground, also accessed by a dirt road (can't remember the roads "name" right now) just past the town of Angels Oaks at the big pull out. In Forest Falls you might be able t... more >>

Comments: Ben - you're right, a climber on the rock would show more perspective. Hard to get a handle on what's going on in the photo as is...

Comments: Whoever left a sling girth hitched to the bolt, for a rappel I assume, I've got it in my possession and would like to return it.

Name the route the sling was left on and color and it's yours.

Comments: Thank you Tristan B. Do you know if there is anything on the boulder to the west w/ the single bolt on its summit? Seems like an odd place to put a bolt...

Comments: The Bandwagon & Stripped Nut share an anchor, as of July 30, 2011 the anchor is 1" tubular webbing threaded directly through the bolts with a rap ring (or quick-link).

Comments: I agree w/ Tristan. I did Wus Pus which is 11a at Tunnel Crags one week ago and that route felt easier than this one. Maybe a hold broke off after the FA...?
