~40 slightly less than vertical route with small pebbles and a bottomless dihedral up top. Cleaned in 2011, top rope set up from a tree ~40' back, so a second rope is necessary.

For crash pad rentals. The only ones who rent crash pads in the area as far as I know. As far as weather, early April could go either way. Leavenworth is typically drier if Gold Bar is wet.

Comments: No photo of the crack, its on the other side of fragrance lake. Only obviously developed line in the area. Bolts look to be about the same age as the other bolted lines on local sandstone. There is also one super overgrown route on the other side of cleator, similar age bolts.

Not really any FA efforts here, just pointing out to local climbers that there is some potential for new routes/problems in the area. Notice the lack of problem names/grades. I assume at least a couple of these bould... more >>

Comments: Believe it or not, there are actually a fair # of problems with compact rock. Sure, the majority of rock is of poor quality, but there is just as much good rock here(and the other side) as any other area in Bellingham, including Sehome. It just needs traffic. Yes it is shady and will be wet during the winter...its the Northwest, everything is.

Cleaning does not imply "f'ing trashing the rock and base area", it simply means brushing holds of moss and sand, and clearing enough of an area ... more >>

Comments: It is within the boundaries of Larrabee, but not on the beach or railroad tracks. It needs activity to get/stay cleaned. Go check it out. The crack up the Fragrance Lake road is one of the best continuous cracks in Bellingham and safe to boulder. Cleator Rd has quite a bit of room for new problems if you have already done everything on the beach and on Chuckanut.

Comments: not that an explanation is necessary, but the tick marks were present when we showed up. dont think anyone was motivated to remove them before climbing, especially me since i dont climb at this level/wasnt climbing this. these guys were quite capable of this climb sans tick marks.

Comments: Noise from a large amount of drilling may draw unwanted attention, but for the most part, all the bolts that would need to be placed already have been placed. When I would visit this crag, I would park, and then wait until no cars were driving by before heading off the road up the trail. I was rather rudely informed by a passing volvo that the property was private (belonged to the driver) 4 years back, so I stated that I was unaware of this, turned around, and left as to not bring any attentio... more >>

Comments: Be aware that the Lister crag is on private property. "Treading lightly" and making the Chuckanut Dr. end of the trail invisible is likely the best way to avoid complications. The nearest residence is at the top of the ridge, quite a ways uphill from the crag.
