More Info
hello fellow climbers. i used to boulder a bunch at the Parking Lot and hike the nat'l forest both out of convenience. would be cool to meet anyone out there of any experience level. would gladly show anyone what i know, and am also willing to take anyone's tour and see what they know. i am familiar with parking lot, lowers, the boulder, northside, southside, hobbit's perch, darkside, whitewall, and helo pad. maybe 100+ trips. i wa regular for a couple years but now not so frequent as a buddy and me started a CrossFit gym.
at yonah there is one boulder downhill between The Boulder and the trail that maybe never has been climbed. kind of in the middle of nothing; probably would need bolts or ropes to be safe. there is another one similar, but way bigger, above the helipad; huge highball. also a roof problem that Andrew Minnick said he did uphill and to the left from The Boulder. Southside has some huge overhangs over a steep-angled granite approach (i put a picture on the main page for Yonah). maybe a couple boulder routes on the edges but looks more like stuff for climbers using ropes. Darkside (opposite bald side of Yonah) has at least one route for ropes, as well. have never seen info on these on the web or heard about them from others. have searched most of the mountain for new climbs
also, i have posted a bunch of V0 to V2 climbs from the Parking Lot area for beginners to have something to work, as when i started i could find very little info on beginner routes even though there are hundreds on the mountain. i used same method for Hilltop area that Josh and Sean did for their guide. i just gave names and ratings to climbs so we all have a reference. if you send me info i am more than willing to rename and rerate, give FA credit, expand info here and there beyond the Parking Lot, correct what i have already posted, etc.
