Comments: Free solo that bitch; it's worthless to put any pro. in it.. Hitting the deck would only hurt a little.

Comments: I thought that the arete was easier than the face, the only hard part on it was right above the third clip (or maybe the second clip). The face was thin as shit, and I found myself hooking back over to the arete to spare myself of the Elvis leg.

Comments: I saw a few of the boys hammerin' away up there, sounds like new bolts to me.looks like another hippie debate about saving the children's future and the rest of the nonsence that follows.

Comments: I was shakin' like a leaf after the first clip. This climb really tests your courage.

HINT:if the first runout freaks you out as much as it did me, try to place in the mini crack before the first clip. there is a small opening toward the top of the crack which can maybe fit like a #1.

Comments: I think that Peter Hubbel's book says that it is a 10 something, but that book has its flaws.

Comments: Right at the crux there's usually a bird's nest inside of the crack, so be aware of that. When I climbed it, the damn thing bit me on the finger and I almost lost it.

Comments: This is one of my favorite climbs in this area. The first time I attempted this climb, my friend started it and couldn't finish. So I was going to finish it for him, but when I ate through the move he was stuck on, I realized that I didn't have any draws on my loops. Tough luck, I never did that again.

Comments: The story of how Sphinx Crack was created is on the wall in the Bucksnort (around the pool table). I don't know if it is true or not, but it says that granite miners tried to blow the side of Sphinx rock off but didn't succeed. And no, their intentions were not to climb the crack, so this would not be considered a "modified route". --Ben made this very simple to understand. Good analogy!

Comments: I heard that some dude took a nasty rip on this climb and lost a finger near the middle of the climb. Some say that the finger is still stuck in there. A little spook story one of my buddies told me. (Who knows if it's true?)
