Comments: This is definitely an adventure route with some unusual climbing. A good portion of the terrain is 3rd and 4th class but there is a burly chimney pitch and a few other surprises to figure out. PM me if you are interested in more beta on this one.

Comments: Hey Charles!

The second pitch is solid .11. The crux is close to the end of the pitch.

Comments: That's what was meant Jon, although there is a sneaky placement for a .75" cam that can offer better protection for the roof. :)

Comments: To designate something as classic I usually consider if the climb is historically significant, striking in appearance, has good rock, and is fun to climb. The climb's length is not super important to me.

Comments: Hey Ryan, I think what Fred suggested was meant as an alternative to chiseling if there is a section of blank rock on a new climb. I'll ask him the next time I talk to to him if he doesn't chime in here.

Comments: If there is a killer linkup that people want to name on MP, that is fine by me. Eric can sort it out and put things into the guide however he sees fit. In my view it makes most sense to make note of linkups in the description/comments for the original routes.

Comments: Modern bolts are around 5000+ pounds for shear, depending on the bolt. The new School of Rock on MP has a description for how to pull drop-ins so the same hole can be reused. There are a lot of drop-ins around here on old routes so I was psyched to learn this technique.

Comments: Just kidding you about the book Angel. I am so sorry that somebody took that stuff. I always worry a little bit about stashing gear but it sucks to see stashes being stolen. I have a few extra bolts that I can give you to help offset your loss.

Comments: Sorry Angel. I hope EFR is right.

Last summer some keys disappeared from a tent at the Reef parking area. Turns out some critter pulled them under a nearby shrub and was chewing on the nylon key ring. Luckily they were found but it was not fun.

Comments: Finally catching up on my feedback after two weeks running around like mad. Climbed this with Arjun early this month and actually had a lot of fun. Very exposed but reasonable climbing at the top. A single set of cams and stoppers did the trick.

I looked the arÍte at the top, particularly where I had to step around left to open air. Nice climb Arjun and David!

Comments: On Feb 27th two anchor bolts and four protection bolts were replaced with hardware provided by the ASCA. The anchor on top of pitch 1 is now two Fixe rap anchors. The anchor on top of pitch 2 was already replaced. Two of the original bolts were still in good condition (3/8" split shafts with good stainless steel SMC hangers). These were not replaced as they still have many years left in them. The route is in prime shape now.

We still have to remove a temporary bolt from the top which serve... more >>
