Comments: What exactly was it nuzzling? Do we need to call PETA?

Comments: A slight bit of a bitch to set up a TR, the rock in back is covered with lichen and a little slippery, be careful.

Comments: You all have sandbags in your pants. The route's a soft 10a, but still 10a up to the 2nd to last bolt, then moving over the roof, yes even with the holds on the arete, is 10b/c. Suckers. Just stay right of the arete, or you're on a different climb.

Comments: Most of the route is 11- or a, then getting up to the roof turns to harder 11, then over the roof turns to 12. If you can't crimp on quarter pad two finger holds, you're not gonna mantle, I didn't.

Comments: Greasy, but fun. I have a half broken ankle, and found plenty of horizontal ledges to stand on, part crack, part face climb.

Comments: The route's something like 5.8+ until the mantle onto the slab, which is 10a, like it or not you crusty old sandbaggers.

Comments: Quit yer moanin', this is a huge boon for the Crystal River Valley. Previously there was only a crappy little wall at CMC a little ways out of town. There are a lot of climbers who I'm sure really appreciate knowing there is an indoor option for cold/snowy/rainy days over there.

Comments: Compared to other ratings in the canyon, this seemed like 5.6 or easy .7 to me. It was one of my earliest trad leads and I was never sketched, but I'm 6'2" and have a big reach, so I'm sure that factors in a lot. My dad's been climbing in Eldo since the '70s and told me they always called it 5.6, for what it's worth.

Comments: First of all, Red Rocks does have a decent section of solid stone to the south east of the main formations. Off the main trail look for a wall of light beige colored stone, this is "white rocks at red rocks," and has some moderately challenging traversing and some cool up-problems. Just uphill (further south east) from there is a block called "the cobbler," it looks like it will crumble in your hands, but it's solid and very interesting pinchy climbing, but almost never touched by anyone. Just b... more >>

Comments: Yeah, I didn't take the ridge to the top, I jumped off the back and hiked down and back around to gap between the first and second. From there I found the SW arete route, went up it and downclimbed it, so now I know how to get off the top without a rope, very useful bit of info to have if you're gonna solo to the rap station.

Comments: I soloed this yesterday (2-28-09) and thought it was fun. If you follow the northern side of the gully there are tons of holds and laybacks. I never once felt threatened until I slipped on a pile of pine needles under one of the trees near the top, but it turned out alright. There may be one or two spots of 5.3 but overall I'd call it 5.2 at best, I did it in approach shoes. If you follow the gully proper to the top you are literally eight feet above the descent trail off the back, I'm not sure ... more >>

Comments: I scramble around up there a lot. There is a wall of more solid stone with some fun bouldering just a little south east of the main rocks. You can see it from the trail, no secret or anything. As far as climbing on the fins themselves, I suppose you could try to top rope some of the bigger faces, but they are pretty featureless and the holds that you will find will rip right off. The way to do it up there is mess around in the slots and chimneys. There are some fun 5.5ish gullies to work your wa... more >>

Comments: Two weeks ago this fella was crumbling and hollow, didn't even get to the top of the cauliflower section at the base before I decided to downclimb, then a big chunk fell off the top, glanced my helmet and smashed my ear. I hope it has formed up, but looks can be deceiving.

Comments: This is redundant, but there is currently (1-6-09) no water in the pipe, so absolutely no ice in BC, probably not this year at all. Let's hope I'm wrong.

Comments: Treasure Falls may look like it's in, but that bitch is hollow and crumbly as a mofo, at least it was four days ago when I was there. Climb at your own risk. Alpha Male on the other hand is in great shape.

Comments: This climb is some of the only ice in good shape on WC Pass right now (Jan '09). This year there is one shelf to rest on about 15-20' up, and the rest is vertical plastic with a section of wetness on the right side the last 20' or so. To find it from the top, traverse in from the east on top of the cliff, keep an eye out for a little sub-ridge before the main ridge that separates the cirque from the other climbs farther west, AM is a couple hundred feet from east of this ridge.
