Comments: Seems like Andy has given a fair assessment of the grade. On the fa I rated it 12c/d. For what ever reason, when it came out in the guide book it was rated 12d. When Tom Linder did it, he thought it was soft at 12d, and he is right. But for my own reasons, when ever somebody starts spraying/ complaining about grades, I just think to myself FU and then sandbag the rating. I tried to change my 12b/c to a 12c but the site wouldn't let me make the change. Solid 12c seems to be a fair rating. You Don... more >>

Comments: The whole area/ hillside is called The Cliffs Of Insanity. The three routes drawn in are Geoff Fullerton's routes and are all about the same, 5.10a/b range. The formation to the right with the cave half way up is The Watchtower, with The Action, 13a ascending thru, just right of the middle of the cave. On The Watchtower, left of The Action, on the lower angle face is another long easy 5.10 Fullerton route. To the left of the drawn in routes, and to the right of The DX, there is another formation... more >>

Comments: I didn't really name this wall. It's in a newer area called The Land That Time Forgot, up in the wilderness area, below a hanging valley near the top of the hill. There is about 20 newer routes in the area, but I haven't gotten around to posting route info.

Comments: Howie, been a long time. Thanks for the reminder, I do remember now and have corrected the fa info here. Those were crazy times, new routes going in daily. Who would have known, 15 years later I would have to try to remember the details...

Comments: Heh...

I didn't take the pic or photochop it. I just posted it, cuz I thought it was funny. Sorry if you think it was bad taste, to laugh at myself on one of my own routes.

Ben originally chopped the pic, to troll a bunch of my old trad buddies, for a thread about 'The best new route at Josh'. It worked pretty good back then, guess it still is?

The pic is actually quite funny, but it might require you to have a understanding about socal climbing history and the personalities of those that c... more >>

Comments: Locker, I had a chance to take a look at your routes this season. They look good, though I didn't get to climb them. Brandt's Booty and D&D are on Slab City. D&D is the route I soloed back in the late 90's. Looks like there are still a couple more easy lines worth doing?

Fecal Rock is actually called Hard Rock Cafe. Between A Rock And A Hard Place is located 25' to the left and was established several years prior to Potty Training. The formation was named at that time. Looks like there is also ... more >>

Comments: As useal, another great Blitzo photo of a New Jack formation.

However several years prior to Potty Training being established, Between A Rock And A Hard Place (25' to the left) was established and the formation named at that time. The formation is called Hard Rock Cafe.

Slab City is correctly named.

Comments: This route was done back in 2004 and never reported. I have done it a couple of times, but I doubt that it has seen any other repeats due to lack of information.

Comments: Two of the upper bolts could be moved to the right, closer to the climbing. I've thought about doing it, just haven't yet. Sides I hate fixing somebody else's route. Still, might do it if I have a drill handy, I'm at the wall and I think about it.

Comments: The name of the route that Chris has the 1st bolt clipped on is called Decaf 5.9/10a. The route continue up the crack then heads left on to the face and parallels Espresso to it's own anchors.

Comments: Death Wish was established over night on a warm spring night. We started work on it at dusk, When it got dark, my buddy Troy Wald ran electrical cords from the generator in the back of his work truck to the base. We had music, lights, an electric drill, a campfire and a case of beer. By sun up, the route had been cleaned, rehearsed, bolted and we were still drunk. Tom Linder arrived at dawn to ask us 'What the fuk were you guys doing all night? I guess we were making so much noise, he couldn't s... more >>

Comments: Crux is passing the 4th bolt(chain draw). Sometimes when I just want to do some hard moves and not do the easier climbing above the crux, I will go up to the 5th bolt(chain draw) and lower off.

Comments: There are two routes on the narrow east face between Easy Prey 10a, far right side of the south face and The Redtail Arete 12a, far left side of the north face. The left route, just right and around the arete from Easy Prey is 11a/b, I can't remember what we called it. The right route, just left and around the arete from The Readtail Arete is called Central High. I can't remember what it's rating is 5.9 or 10a. It has a high 1st bolt and two more above to no anchors on top. It's an old Brutus ro... more >>
