Comments: This is one of the best looking direct lines on the wall but there is a flake above midway that imo is hollow enough to be careful of. If the flake does not break then this is a great route!

Comments: the sand has gone down since back in the day so the stand may be v5ish now when it is low? the sand fluctuates seasonally but overall gets lower and lower decade by decade-ish. my friends and i used to do the dyno move in our street shoes so that is maybe not that bad unless we were a lot stronger than we thought or something broke - maybe v4/5ish. the move is simply good smearing and deadpoint technique with a medium size reach - I'm 5.10 with a +3" ape but my bro who laps it too is 5.8ish. the... more >>

Comments: not sure if this is an fa. have you talked with ken ariza? he cleaned that whole boulder and he and elliot and sean brady and i did a lot of variations and link up fa's that are not in jimis, tresas or my books, yet. most of the stuff on the developed boulders up there has been done but just not listed anywhere, yet. but it could be an fa! it doesnt ring a bell with me.

Comments: the shogun thing looks rad!! great job. i cant wait to check it out and maybe try it :-/ there are a lot of other great problems there fro mas far back as the local seth carter? and then i think it was me and then charlie barrett did a great v7 roof and then vic copeland added a lot of new harder problems and got the mega classic v5 semi highball out in the water on a rock island. im glad this place is finally getting more appreciation. it is a cool spot.

Comments: i did the left route that is now the lead climb "factotum". i did fa on tr but i never went back to finish it since at that time they were dealing with the access issues that arose at the quarry. good job to the guys that did it - factotum it is!

the other routes i did have the names wrong or incomplete and they are;

"bar fight" is the route on the right with the short boulder crux at the start and then the 5.5 ending. the route to its left up the corner is "bar fly" and then facto... more >>

Comments: and wow - Forest K person - lol!! diss my book with no legs to stand on = weakest of sauce. 70 of 100 problems are not private in my book and from what owen says there are 300 problems so far not on private land - ha! open your eyes and mind, shut your mouth and boulder. there are so many classics in my book that are not on private land you are totally wrong and i call you out.

Comments: Loon Lake Bouldering
>>ACCESS ALERT<<

The Getaway Boulders and the adjacent Getaway Slabs are on Private Property and have No Trespassing signs currently in place. A few of the most difficult problems at Loon are/were found there and will be sorely missed but overall it is not devastating to the area. Page 96-98 of Northern California Bouldering has the areas that are now CLOSED. There could possibly even be more areas around Loon that are on ... more >>

Comments: nice! fyi - i cleaned and did that one first and called it "Intuition". there was also a good variation to it i called "Instinct" before some holds broke making it less appealing. the sit down left is v5 and the right arete "bootjack arete" v3 sit or v7 low sit is great too i think. glad to see some folks enjoying it!

theres a lot more info on new tam stuff on my blog; summitorplummet.blogspot.com

cheers!!

Comments: thats a bummer. i cant see any land owners house and the fence is on the uphill side of the rock anyways which makes me totally doubt the ranger saying its priv prop actually knew if it was nor not which means they were lying. i have never heard of a problem there in like 12-14 years that weve been climbing there. i would say it is probably a fluke and a bored and ignorant ranger. super slab is climber turf now i say. it is small but it has a lot of tough lowballs VB-V9 that you can do by yourse... more >>

Comments: great job andy! i say claim it but just put the ? after the fa. maybe in 8 or 10 years drop the ?. i have to do the same around here in the bay area all the time. i actually thought of that problem when i was there on a short trip a few years ago working on the V8. it is pretty obvious but it did seem harder. i bet someone would have mentioned it if they did it but maybe wills young (bishop bouldering) or steve edwards would be good guys to ask?? either way i look forward to trying it again on m... more >>
