Location: CO : Alpine Rock : Mt. Evans : Photo By: Dillon Calkin When: Apr 4, 2008 | view comment >> | Comments: The crag to the right in this photo has a new line as of last year (Sept '07) called Back to the Earth, 5.13d. FA Rob Pizem. Sweet route, I helped him work on the second crux. The line follows the over hanging arete. There's an alternate line to the right of the second crux that hasn't been sent yet, that's rated 14a or b.

I have a question about a part of the canyon and figured you being the person who's pretty much the commander and chief in the canyon, I'd ask you. There's a part around the Gargoyal Wall that has a fairly massive roof, you can see it from the road on the Hwy 86 entrance as soon as you enter the park, just wondering if that's off limits or good to go. For climbing. If you know what I'm talking about, please let me know. It seems to have some difficult lines invol... more >>

Location: CO : Denver South : Castlewood Canyon SP : The Dungeon : Where The Wild Things Are (5.11d) By: Dillon Calkin When: Apr 4, 2008 | view comment >> | Comments: This is a question of beta I recently found where the dungeon is after about an hour of mindless, shrub boxing through all the scrub oak but was confused on a particular area just south of the obvious detached boulder. It's about 50 yards ish south of the dungeon where a nice roof spatterd with old birds nests are, there are an assortment of sport routes leading up this part with the first bolts, some of them old cold shuts fairly high off the deck just past the roof. Point being, is this where,... more >>

Location: CO : New Hard Line on Mt Evans i... By: Dillon Calkin When: Oct 12, 2007 | view comment >> | Comments: It's north of the Black Wall. You can see it from the road.... Although I wouldn't suggest going from the road to the route, the hike to it unless your going to rap down is rather steep. One slip and it's death. If you end up going out, there you'll see what I mean.

Location: CO : New Hard Line on Mt Evans i... By: Dillon Calkin When: Oct 12, 2007 | view comment >> | Comments: I actually climbed the crux section with Rob (who happens to be my science teacher) last month. There's a 5.14a alternate route up the arete to the right of the 13b line that bypasses a 5.10 traversing hand crack to the start of the 13b section. Really, really, really hard. Sick route.
