Comments: Just to be clear, this is not field treatment but information on recuperating from a climbing injury?

Comments: I've spent a fair amount of time in the Canyon, and there looks like there are quite a few lines that haven't been established as of yet (loose rock, no anchors on potential sport lines, etc.). How would one go about doing the research and potentially establishing a new route? Both trad and sport.

Comments: Climbed this last week. Great first pitch, second pitch was a little spicy as I kept it out on the face a little more. However, pro is very sparse for 60 or so feet. Not sure if you should stay farther left in the crack, but that didn't feel right. As for the final (3rd) pitch, I had a #4 and #5 C4 and the crack is wider than the #5 until the top of the pitch. Not sure what I missed but the larger gear was not any help for me, found 3 or 4 placements on the way up this sho... more >>

Comments: Is this route "Dirty Deed" as shown in Levin's book? Where is Dirty Deed as described on MP located in relation?

Comments: I've climbed this quite a few times with friends since my last post. I no longer use gear, and, if you are confident at the grade, it is run-out between the 2nd and 3rd pin and the 3rd and the top anchor (the easier terrain) but totally do-able. Just use good footwork up the dihedral to the 3rd, reach around to the right and clip, then step out onto the face. Good fun.

Comments: FYI, there is a fixed nut about halfway between the 2nd and 3rd bolt. I didn't work on getting it out too much so I'm not so certain as to the "fixed" nature of it, but it does fix the small run out between the bolts. I led this as sport only (with the addition of that fixed nut) and it felt reasonably well protected.

Comments: We made an attempt at Devil's Thumb last weekend. We came in from Tabernash and started at the Devil's Thumb TH. You can reach the TH from either Winter Park or Tabernash, and it can be slightly confusing to which roads you need to take. Have a map if you choose to come in from Tabernash (Google did the trick for us). The hike is beautiful and well-defined. We spent the night at treeline. The next day we headed towards the Thumb.

There is a large gully between the ridge you top out on a... more >>

Comments: There is a good horn to sling to bail from at the top of the first pitch. There is currently a red sling with a rap ring in good condition we used to bail in the rain last weekend.

Comments: Good climb. We used the optional nut before the first bolt and that was nice. If you climb the groove to the left of the bolts I think it felt pretty 5.6ish, the bear hug to the right of the bolts had a few 5.7 moves maybe. Fun either way.

Comments: There are now 2 large hangers at the top of P1 belay ledge. Most of P2 was bolted. I'm not sure we found the proper belay ledge for P2 so we improvised. watch for loose rock on P3.

Comments: We did this route today, I'm pretty sure this is the top of P1. There are now 2 large and bomber hangers about head high straight over this configuration.

Comments: A fun climb but be prepared to be attacked by ants if you start at the tree and it's warm out. We climbed this once in March and it was great, once in May and the ants tried to eat us alive. Besides that, a very fun and easier climb.

Comments: This is a fun 2nd pitch to Old'N. It's a little runout. Just one pin where you start the climb and one up high after the shelf. I climbed it the first time without extra gear but with extra caution. I did it the next day with a few pieces of gear. A #0.4 (I think) cam fits nicely in the horizontal next to the little bush, make sure you extend it with at least a shoulder length sling to let the rope run smooth. The dihedral is great for climbers who aren't ready for the tricky move ou... more >>

Comments: This is a really fun climb. Smaller holds up high add to the thrill of it, but it's not scary even for intermediate climbers. The bolts looked good all the way up except for the anchor at the top of the 2nd pitch. There were a few chopped bolts but no hangers. There is a tree about 30 ft back that you can use, but you have to miss the top 15 or 20 feet of the climb. Has anybody thought about rebolting the top anchors at the top of Pitch 2? I'd give it more stars if so! Great afternoon sun ... more >>

Comments: A buddy and I tried this route today. It was his first lead, the first pitch was great...but was the second really a 5.6 going over that headwall??? I made it over after he tried way to the right of the second bolt, but was this where the route is supposed to go? If so the swing for the second is pretty sketchy after cleaning his last bolt. Any info would be great! Climb on!
