Comments: Re: camping: I'm not sure it would be considered "good", but the closest camping to Morrison is Bear Creek Lake Park - www.lakewood.org/bclp/.

Comments: Replaced the third bolt 2/16/13. As mentioned above, the bolt was not bent but was drilled at an angle. The rock around the bolt, however, was breaking up. See photo for before/after. Thanks to ASCA for the hardware!

Comments: Agree with Ben about the photo [Eds. now relabeled & moved]. It's of Team Anorexia (you can tell by the old hanger clipped below the climbers feet). Both guidebooks seem to have errors in this area. They do agree on Metamusso being newish and the 1st route right of Dave Dangle but show the line wrong on the topos.

Comments: ANCHORS ARE FIXED. Updated the anchor again on 1/18/13 with s/s ASCA bolt and quicklinks. Added a short chain to right bolt to equalize. Anchor should be good to go for a while now.

Comments: Put the anchors in and TRd this same year as Crack a Cold One (but later). Both anchor sets hand drilled (3 inch holes in granite!!) Came back a year later with A. and E. Butcher when I finally got a power drill and the lead bolts were already installed (most likely by Scott S.) Fun slab climbing. I felt the crux was prob last 20 feet to anchors.

Location: CO : South Platte : Deckers : Little Half Dome : Crack a Cold One (5.4 PG13) By: Derek Lawrence When: Nov 26, 2012 | view comment >> |
Comments: I cleaned this and put the anchors in years ago for something for my daugter to climb (on TR). The gear is there but tricky (i.e. sideways stoppers, small cams). I thought it was harder than 5.4 at the one move out of the crack near the anchors, but this is also one of the better protected moves (#2 Camalot if I remember), so it shouldn't matter.

Comments: Added 2 ASCA quicklinks to anchor 8/26/12. Was previously just 2 carabiners on coldshuts in a rope-twisting configuration. Biners were in good condition, so the added quicklinks make for a much smoother lower....

Comments: Anchor replaced this evening. Due to funky rock in the original location, the new anchors are about 2 ft. lower. Big thanks to ASCA for the hardware!

Comments: Heads up! Snakes are out. Stirred up a small rattlesnake on the way down from New Hipster this evening (dusk). Right on the trail as it goes through the brush and over the shoulder near the crag. Watch out....

Comments: I tweaked the description above to add Kent's mileage to the pull-out (and remove that you can pay to park at Molly Gulch CG which isn't there anymore...). It's been awhile since I've been back there. If anybody has any other beta (e.g. what's the current stream crossing set-up), let me know and I can update the description.

Comments: I had a fun time here this week on a business trip. Climbed with a couple cool locals (thanks Craig and Brian). Couple comments re the anchors Whats with the anchors at this place? The fact that you cant just lower off and move to another climb (without leaving something) is an inconvenience. But of the 4 climbs i got on here; 2 had anchor bolts placed that forced a cross-loaded biner over a bump/edge when the slings where set for lowering (or tr). One of those had been noted as h... more >>
