Comments: 5th and 4th bolts have been replaced. (While the 5th was the one with the rock blown out around it, after seeing how rusted it looked, I went ahead and replaced the 4th as well....)
Big thanks to ASCA for the hardware!!

Comments: I had a fun time here this week on a business trip. Climbed with a couple cool locals (thanks Craig and Brian). Couple comments

re the anchors
Whats with the anchors at this place? The fact that you cant just lower off and move to another climb (without leaving something) is an inconvenience. But of the 4 climbs i got on here; 2 had anchor bolts placed that forced a cross-loaded biner over a bump/edge when the slings where set for lowering (or tr). One of those had been noted as h... more >>

Comments: Super fun!! Looks harder from below but holds keep appearing. Finishing right of the last bolt as I did may be a bit harder than going left to the flake on left route

Comments: I've not been on it, but Scott S. called it 11d.

EDIT: I just went to the main page and saw this comment from Scott
"In 2002, I bolted the black streak on right side, .11+/.12-"

Comments: The Oxbow Parcel on which Cat Slab sits is still in the planning stages from what I can tell. I found this link to a public meeting announcement for the site plan.

Comments: GEAR ALERT: The hanger on the 4th bolt is bent/flattened. Not sure if someone fell on it when it was twisted, but in its current condition it is hard to clip and its strength/integrity may be compromised....

Comments: Gotta go with Lee here. The anchors shown here are specifically designed to be lowered off of - not rappeled from. Why else do you think there is a gate on the top? As Lee notes, if they wear super quickly due to traffic, consider other anchors (i.e. quicklinks/chain).

Also, considering Lee signed his comment "from safercliffs.org" - a little research shows that "Safer Cliffs Australia is a non-profit voluntary organization of climbers who maintain the safety of rock climbing areas ... more >>

Comments: 1) what are the chances the campgrounds will be fully booked on Friday eve around 8pm?
2) is there water available?
3) is it still 4$ a night?
4) picnic tables at the sites?

1 - if it was like last weekend there were only a couple of sites still available by 9pm (granted last weekend was the busiest i've seen in years) you should have a decent chance...
2 - No, bring your own
3 - Yes, for now...
4 - Yes

Other tips... bring your own wood unless you don't mind walking a ways to gather dead wood... more >>

Until Clear Creek County Open Space gives the OK, it would probably be best to not climb here.

Comments: Jacob

Why don't you ask the FA'ists? Darryl posts on this site and while Bob D no longer does, he is reachable through the forums over on Supertopo.... I'm unsure if this route was rap bolted - a lot of the older Shelf routes were put up ground up using hooks/gear - again I'm unsure in this case.... But I AM sure that it's not good to be adding bolts to routes without the FA's approval. Especially when 2 of the 3 are still very active in the area. Replacing bad bolts is one thing - adding n... more >>

Comments: Bjorn is right about the ticks. I'd avoid this area (and any other in Clear Creek that involves bushwacking) in the spring and early summer but late summer on is fine. I was back & forth on this trail many times while Darren and I were working on Big Bros Watching and never saw a tick.
