Comments: Setting a TR anchor for this route can be tricky. As you well know, the tree line sets back quite a ways from the top of this route. In order to set an anchor here, you can either:

Use close to 60' of webbing to extend an anchor from the treeline above or

Use traditional protection to build an anchor closer to the edge.

The last time I climbed the route I used the first option. You may even be able to find a small boulder up top somewhere to sling for an anchor. It's a very fun route though a... more >>

Comments: This route actually doesn't fall under the Forest Service restriction for climbing and/or rappelling at rim Rock. The only routes affected are those which lie directly under the man-made railings at the top of the overlook. The routes affected are:
Billboard (5.11a)
Leap of Faith (5.10b)
The Nose (5.10c)

Comments: The rating system for clean aid routes does in fact range from C0-C5, just as the original scale ranges from A0-A5.

Having said that, a clean aid climb (denoting the C rating) can be defined as a route that can be completed without a hammer and associated pins even if the route uses previously installed expansion bolts.

FYI there is no use for a hammer or pins on this route. All expansion bolts and associated hangers have been fixed and, unless removed by a third party, remain in place for eve... more >>

Comments: Went out to the Quarry today to pull down my fixed line, and found that some of the fixed gear had disappeared on the Bolt Ladder.

I'm glad people are trying the route, but please leave any carabiners or quick links that have been left there on the route. They're there for a reason. The route is still a project and continually sees work. That gear is there to aid in the project.

Also, the end of the fixed line was tied off to the 4th bolt so as to not be damaged or used by any hikers or childr... more >>

Comments: Low snowpack at the top of the route made for a very interesting solo. Lots of exposed ground/rock forced me to frontpoint and even drytool when I was able to find features stable enough to pull on. The lower 3/4 of the route was extremely fun though, good snow until the final 50ft or so. Going to wait for a bit more snow before I attempt to repeat the route. Definitely an "X" safety rating in these conditions, it did look like there were possibilities to protect however in the rock on the sides... more >>

Comments: Thanks for posting, looks amazing!

Is the mountain you listed as "Mt Asgard" known by any other name?

I was initially confusing it with Mt Asgard (6,611') along with Mt Thor (5.495') in Auyuittuq National Park, on the Cumberland Peninsula of Baffin Island, Nunavut, Canada.

Both are magnificent peaks as well that I hope to soon add trip reports for.
