Comments: Fun and precarious all at once. While this is quite well bolted by LCC standards, the biggest spacing is between bolts 1&2, which makes you feel like you'll dive bomb your belayer if you peel there and they are stationed at the closest anchor. So there's another reason for belaying down lower.

Comments: Fantastic route!! I'm tempted to give this one four stars. I'm 5'4" and I managed to onsight the roof by getting my feet high on that neck of rock connecting the lower slab and the roof, deadpointing one hand into the narrow bottom of the slot and, since I couldn't find another handhold within reach, matching on top of my own hand. My chest was pegged against the stone at this point due to the reach factor, which made getting my feet up exciting... but doable.

And then the top keeps you workin... more >>

Comments: I have no idea why this only gets one star in the Ruckman guide. The "character building spike move", as described in the guide, was SO FUN! The crux handjam was a bit rattly for my small hands, which only added to the excitement.

Comments: Am I correct in that touching anything on that left hand arete at the top is a disqualifier? It's so in your face right when you're desperate for a good handhold.

Comments: Superb route. There's something to challenge everyone on this one--thin hands, wide hands, fingers, technical footwork.

And yes, bring a larger piece than the guidebook says for the top. I got by walking a deeply placed #3.5BD for most of it, and then climbing above it for the last ~body length and I wouldn't call myself bold. A #4 would have been nice.

Comments: Really fun techy problem. The black book lists this at V3. A little tricky though?

Comments: I found this pretty stiff for the grade, even by LCC standards. I got on it as a warmup and ended up getting a workout. I second Jeff Guest's comment that maybe it's a little harder if you're short (I'm 5'4")? I found myself using wide and high feet and feeling quite exposed before I could reach the next good hold. Super fun though!

Comments: This is listed as V2 in the black book. I'm inclined to agree with that.

Comments: I, too, am short and had to dyno for the lip. (A tall friend sandbagged me onto this one.) The dyno was successful--and even if it hadn't been, the pro was bomber--and now I'm here to rate this climb four stars due to its beautiful varnish, snaking crack, and neat move. If you're tall, this one is probably more straight forward, but dynos on crack pitches are kinda memorable for us shorties. (I'm 5'4" and usually solid on 5.10 sandstone crack.)
