Comments: Amazing climb and summit in one of the most beautiful places on earth.
East approach was extremely overgrown in August, lost the trail after two big cairns when the gully becomes rocky. Bushwhacked up the gully and slope to the north (very difficult going) to the saddle. Once there and toward the lions ledge, the trail was obvious and well-cairned. Weather was a bit humid, but we had cloud cover the whole time, and only a light sprinkle on the wall.

Comments: As of Aug 16-18 there was a "no trespassing" sign on the gate off of the 286 for the East Approach.
We'd never done the approach before and as such decided we must have been in the wrong place. Plus some border patrol guys told us that the road to the trailhead was at mile marker 20, not 16 where we thought it would be. The road to the trailhead from mm20 was almost impassible and infuriatingly maze-like. It took 2 hours and a high clearance vehicle. Coming back, we took the nicer road and f... more >>

Comments: An awesome pretty easy climb, hardest part of the day way the approach. We got lost attempting to head straight up to the saddle between the two spires directly from the Chapel. As far as the approach goes, it would have been way easier to take the Chapel trail to where it intersects with Little Horse and head left (northeast), wrapping behind the two spires and approach from there. Thats how we got down at least.
