Comments: Hi all-

Just a quick note on possible anchor postions. It is very easy to walk around the little downclimb that puts you on the tree and arrive at the same position. You just walk up the ramp another 50 feet or so and down and around. This would allow for new anchors to be placed to the left (skiers right) of the tree and have very easy access, and no issue with the ropes pulling through the tree.

Please consider placing them at chest level as this would facilitate easier rigs and pulls.

Comments: Seth,

You should go back up and climb the route up the center where the bolt is. If you can find a tcu placement within 5 feet of where the bolt is that will keep you off the ledges then I will belay you while you remove the bolt!!! Then I will buy you a beer when you relead it the way the "new variation" goes.

Comments: Hello all,

First of all Eli is out of town and probably would like to be part of this discussion. I will leave that up to him and to respond to the bolt issue on the parking lot rock.

As far as the route King Tut goes- I drilled the one protection bolt that is on the slab 1/2 between Ramses and Cat Dancing. The route is a little bit of a sqeeze but is a great route and to climb it directly without the bolt would put the leader into ledge fall territory. I tried to lead it group up but backed o... more >>

Comments: Climbed Wigglin today!!! what a rad route! No doubt the slab is hard but don't under estimate the opening crack moves or they may sting you in the tail. The fixed nut is still in place and is way bomber.

cheers,

Comments: Climbed the Smear on Tuesday. The bottom is not fat about 1/2 thick. We opted for the 5.10 traverse in from the left. I try tooled it and thought it to be about M5 or so with not great gear. I left 3 pins and 1 nut as they were pretty good, but don't treat them like bolts as they were hare to get and test. Where I hit the ice from the traverse it was about 1 inch quickly growing to take 11 cm srews then 13's shortle thereafter. Thin and delicate to pull the overlap then grade 4+ to the top.
