More information:
started leading trad in May 2008 and can now lead up to 5.10. My interest lies primarily with cracks; hand cracks, fist cracks, roof cracks, and my most recent interest ... offwidths. I'll go sport climbing once and awhile, but prefer it to be steep and pumpy over slabby and thin. I own a full rack up to 4 with some doubles, a rope, and have done enough climbing that I should be relatively easy to communicate with.
I lived in Boulder, CO May 2008-August 2009, but have since moved back home to MA. I work Monday-Thursday and prefer to make climbing trips a multiple day thing. As I'm going to be driving at least 2 hours regardless, I would rather have a partner for two/three days and camp out one/two nights. I'd love to spend more time at Rumney, Cathedral, Cannon, Farley, and the daks(!).
Though I've never ice climbed and own no gear, I am interested since I'm going to need something to keep me busy throughout the Winter.
"Accept the journey. Be at peace in it. Watch it. When you can be at one with the difficulty and the chaos, then you transcend it. You simply walk your path, being observant, paying attention, learning and growing in your understanding of who you are and what is possible for you. Approached in the warrior's way, the rock will teach you." --Arno Ilgner--
"Until one is committed there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way. Whatever you do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it." --Wolfgang von Goethe-- |
