Comments: Actually there is a little known published guide by - I think - none other than Matt Samet circa 90's. The routes even have names. I think StoneAge has a copy somewhere, it would be nice to see it online.

Comments: Climbed the Snake on July 13th 2008. Snow all the way to the short rock section. It was pretty warm, but we didn't see any rock fall. About 500ft below Lavender Col we were able to glissade quite a long way back into Blaine Basin. Fun route, way longer than I expected. Chris

Comments: I found the first pitch to be basically a free solo for the most part, but pretty easy. (5.6) Belayed at a rap station consisting of a rope around a horn a bit right and below the chimney. The second pitch protected relatively well. At the top of the chockstone I went up and right to the top of a huge detached pillar that forms the chimney. I think that is what most people are calling the "flake". Then straight up the middle of the face with a minor runout to funky pro, followed by a move a... more >>

Location: NM : Albuquerque Area Climbing : Sandia Mountains : Pino Wall & Jawbone : Pino Wall : License and a Visa (5.11b/c PG13) By: Chris Cox When: Oct 8, 2007 | view comment >> |
Comments: Bill, I havent rapped down License and Visa, but I would guess that it would not be all that big of a deal to get to Pino Wall Route from the base of License and Visa. Alternatively you can rap down pino wall route. There is a bolted anchor at the top that is somewhat hidden and a bit exposed to get to. To find it aim for the center of the "SW face." Pino wall sort of curves around and has what I would discribe as a SW face and a steeper S face where License and Desert Man are located. Ther... more >>

Comments: Attempted the route on 9/28/07. It was my first aid route and the 3rd crux pitch stumped me so we bailed. I got a small TCU in above an old intermediate anchor (that we conveniently rapped off) and then couldnt figure out how to proceed. the next bolt was about 10ft up (right before the belay, so close!). there was a 2inch hole a bit off to the side that I might have been able to get a narrow cam or tricam in but had none. Is there some fixed gear missing? Any suggestions?
