Comments: Just drove past the parking for the area and the hill is all burned. I couldn't tell if it made it all the way back into the crag area though. Anyone know a ranger/firefighter that would know?

Comments: Did this yesterday with Mark Thomas and his friend Brad. Really enjoyed the entire experience, this would be my first Grade II and it felt like it. Felt totally committed the whole time. The exposure on the Rudder was really at my mental limits. Thanks Mark for being so calm and collected, it really helped.

MArk and Brad also on-sighted the rightmost sport climb on the back side of the rudder below the raps, I think it's 505? That was amazing as well!

Comments: Sling material, Locker and cord left at start of route. Didn't take it since it might have belonged to someone walking down possibly.

Comments: Just curious, but when you take off the bolts do you recognize the after affects of bi-metallic corrosion or is that a nylon bushing?

Comments: Doug and I climbed yesterday 10/25. This was a great route for doing my second and third traditional leads. Didn't go all the way to the top anchors, we treated the (seemingly) optional start from below as the start. If you come in below the canyon there is a reasonably 5.easy slab section to the left, or a more scramble section off to the right. We free'd a portion of the slab to the left then roped in about 80 ft to the first anchors on the "Lunch Ledge". We'll do it differently next time... more >>

Comments: Booty and conditions

Trad. Class went great, spent two days this weekend there. There is a dropped stopper on a ledge below the large boulder between Cave Woman and Shoes for industry. Was racing a thunderstorm or would have retrieved.

Both days met with afternoon thunder storms starting around 5pm. Sunny and beautiful till then. Heard many elk, turkey and coyote in the area near the campsite near the gate. Some forest ranger guys cleared a lot of overhanging branches near the gate so a g... more >>

Comments: "Was end of the day" was only excuse not to finish. Made it to the cruxy end but could not pass.

Exposure is really insane, specially if you choose to use the arete.

Careful, one of our team found loose cobbles right at the anchors, some fell, but not all. Everyone was rattled but uninjured.

Comments: I second Dave's recommendation of the El Faralito restaurant! The staff were very accommodating and friendly, even though it was obvious we were not locals.

I did see the trash at the head end of the dirt road though, it was a bit sad. Once you pass the Sign though i is clean as a whistle.

Highly recommend the Sport area.
