Comments: This wall is a sun trap, it's warm here even in the winter, and in the summer it's baking.

Comments: Years ago I arrived at the top of this climb only to be told by the SB SAR people that I couldn't clip the anchors because they were going to use them ! My response was rather rapid "oh yes I am, watch me".

Comments: We did the climb from the Needles end of fire road camp - passing all of the needles to the dome, then heading down and around to the base. It wasn't too bad, we'd already been at the Needles for a few days so were in the right frame of mind for that particular approach.

Comments: There's some knarly moves before clipping the first bolt.

Comments: Crux is getting up to clip the first bolt and seemed harder than 5.9 to me.

Comments: Excellent steep route which keeps you thinking all the way to the top.

Comments: Opening moves are the crux, but well protected by the first bolt being clipped from the ground. Fun route but the rock is a bit scrappy.

Comments: All well equipped now. No mussy hooks at the top of the second pitch only links. We chose to rap the route - two raps. Tremendous second pitch which gets more and more though provoking as it steepens towards the top - great views when sitting on top bringing up the second, that's why I did it that way -- just to ponder a while.

Looks like I took Sean's option, crossing rightwards over the crack and shooting for the top - I think that's the way to go but yes harder than 5.7.

Comments: Crux moves up to the first bolt. Then flakes etc, Then smeary to the anchors. Fun route.

Comments: Very good climb with a spectacular start, and is continuously interesting to the anchors. Getting to the first clip, while easy, is relatively high and exposed.

Comments: Extremely well protected - even for a sport route. But good sequential moves towards the top which are more technical than the routes on Hoogie - actually had to stop and think.

Comments: Opening moves are the crux, once that first bolt is clipped the rest is cruise.

Comments: More character than the better protected routes to the left due to its longer run-outs,and IMHO better because of it. Just lead it or leave it alone.

Comments: I have a young friend (a good guy) who has done a lot of sport climbing; he said he'd feel really good if he could lead comfortably at 5.12. I told him that a better ambition would be to lead every route on the Sunshine Face up to 5.11+. It's not about the grade, it's about the rock and the lines we draw upon it.

Comments: Well here's the route according to Barlett's Guide:

" -- move left around a corner (passing a bolt) to a left-slanting crack leading to the top -- "
