Comments: I only did four routes here, but three of them had very odd conclusions; it seemed like I'd clip the final anchors then pull another move. So, while I understand that the anchors are placed optimally to allow the rope to run, I felt kinda robbed at the end.

Comments: Hard to know where the crux is, perhaps the flake moves at the top?

Comments: Not 5.9 unless today I was completely off form. More like 5.10b or c for me considering how much I flailed.

Comments: After the open moves on pretty good jugs there's a pretty darn tough move on small holds - a huge handrail broke off here about 15 years ago. After pulling that move energy reserves are key to completing the route.

Reardon used to solo this one - pretty stunning.

Comments: OMG Chris! Well bolted? There are some big run outs on this one, namely to the first bolt, and then there's a tricky bulge move just before the last bolt, blow that one and you're in for a ride. I recommend, as stated previously, taking some small cams with you to protect the opening sequence up Last Angry Arab and across to the first bolt, and for the long final runout to the last bolt, that last bolt should probably been placed just below the bulge, but a small cam will fit there so never mind... more >>

Comments: OMG Steve! There's no way these are sport routes. Trail to the dome was well trodden and also cairned at critical spots - so, easy to follow for the careful. I headed east too early, up a drainage but it wasn't that bad, returning I followed the trail all the way to the main Wonderland trail.

Comments: That's not the line I took on Willard, I stepped left after the second bolt and climbed the blunt arete on good holds, then stepped back right to the third bolt.

Comments: Not a bad route but not on par with the quality of Double Dip or Stichter Quits. But a good experience for people new to Joshua Tree and used to doing clips ups. The crux over the lip is a bit reach dependent.

Comments: Did this route for the umpteenth time yesterday, which was Thanksgiving and no-one was there! I'm going to re-assert my belief that this is a classic, almost perfect, tremendous fun and a rite of passage for any 5.6 leader at Joshua Tree.

BTW For pity's sake don't TR this route, what a travesty...

Comments: We climbed this route using Roper's little green book, a very long time ago and like I said, we were probably off route, hence the much looser than your average vertical alpine pitch - please read what I preface my remarks with.

Comments: Lots of good steep, technical face climbs in the 5.10 range here - different from Central Pinnacles.
