Comments: It was a suggestion to the community (maybe you should do the same before marring the rock yourself). Sorry I do not put a 15m slab on pare with anything other than a recreational sport route. And thanks I have done plenty of developing/restoration work on local crag classics to know what standard ethics are... Hell I have even FA'd a 5.6R myself, without putting in any bolts! How about this? Does anyone know how to contact the FAs? I would be glad to chat with them, see what they think, and eve... more >>

Comments: Not in the guide, but found it to be a nice variation which I figured had been done at some point but never named. If anyone knows of a preexisting name let me know and I will change it. For now it is named after the hold that seemed to be the crux move.

Comments: Yes and that is good for the ego of the FA. My only point here is that the current lay out of bolts screens poor ethics. A bolt placed at essentially ground level gives the impression of a lack of ethics. Additionally, a run out on such an obscure short route (which is a sport route, sorry) makes the use of the bolts (that are not the originals) unlikely and hence the bolts are just liter.

Comments: Nut on the first bolt was backed off to the last thread of the bolt yesterday. ; bolt 3 isn't the healthiest looking either. A super pleasant lead--just wished it was another 40 feet longer.

Comments: Not on this route no. The first bolt is 7ft off the ground--its is a scary sit start I'll give it that. Second Bolt is about 20ft.

Comments: Edited. Certainly not trying to disrespect the location ethics, simply an idea to make a 15m moderate sport climb a little more reasonable.

Comments: If the belay area was cleared out a bit this would be a even better little crag. Some of the better quality rock along the highway, just needs some TLC.

Comments: One of the most classic routes I have seen around anchorage. Although short, definitely a fun on to run laps on.

Comments: Having heard horror stories of bad rock along the highway, I was amazed by the quality of rock at this area--although not the most textured rock, certainly worth the time of checking it out.

Comments: Jim, yes, that is a fun line. Layback up the railing crack, and you can get a little exposure on the chopped chicken head up above... it's also one of the longer lines up there.

Comments: This slab is certainly pretty low grade. Marty's dog onsight, free soloed one of the routes, but it is certainly a fun location if you are new to soloing to get your head solid. Nice clean, sunny, longgg slab.

Comments: This crag is probably your best bet for dry conditions after a rain on Cape Ann. It offers some great slab lines, a couple crack lines, and a nice boulder. Also this is a short crag directly behind the Stage Fort crag, along with a very nice crack line on the shore the needs to get cleaned out. The "bolts" on top are not for climbing, currently gear anchors are recommended for TR.

Comments: Two twos and two threes seem good on the lower half and a 0.5 for the crux. Nice light rack for a very fun lead.

Comments: Jim, no it does not go all the way to the black streak. It follows up the slab about 6 feet parallel and left of the Zipper. Look for a tiny peanut about 10 feet off the ground, and then pretty much go straight up.

Comments: Mop Grip Quarry might be good. Most of the quarries in Gloucester should be warm(isher), but right now I think your gonna be fighting the ice that's starting to come in. Bouldering this time of year is generally a safe bet though.
