Comments: Very fun route....very old school at the same time. A locker on the first bolt and steady nerves up to the second will see you through. Cleaning and replacing the old bolts is on the list for this summer. Very close to a three star, but it is a bit short and thwarts some of the best. Once the second pitch is a go, I may change my rating to 3 stars...it really is a fun route!

Comments: This is a really fun route. the first pitch was a bit spicier than I thought it would be, and I missed the key handhold on the overlap which made that move considerably harder. Next time I will stay out to the right to see if I can find it!

Comments: Did this one today, the thing doesn't let up. I would agree that there are several cruxes, but the one between the 6th and 7th bolts was the hardest. Pretty heady route, but a really great line.

Comments: Out at steak sauce today. Those two routes are still in good shape. Anyone know anything about the routes that John put up as well as the climbs that the Smith brothers did up there? There is an upper tier and I think they must be up there somewhere?

Location: NH : Cathedral Ledge : The Beast Alcove and Refuse... : AP Treat (5.8+) By: Chris Graham When: Aug 9, 2010 | view comment >> |
Comments: AP has been totally cleaned and restored to its original condition after three days of scrubbing. It is a really fun climb with reasonable (albeit spaced) gear with a pin at mid height. The 1/4" has been replaced. It has been seeing some traffic lately which is great to see! Give it a try and while you are at it, the 5.10 15' to the right of it is a great pitch too!

Comments: This was a fairly popular route back in the early 80's, but seemed to lose it's popularity shortly thereafter. It is a fun route with interesting moves but needs a good cleaning. I haven't seen anyone on this route in 20+ years. Sticks and Stones is just to the left for a heart pounding!

Comments: Hey thanks Baldy, I am psyched that you liked it. That second clip without gear in the flake is a heart pounder for sure. Do you think the grade is accurate?

Comments: I agree Jon! I like this route more and more with every time I do it. Some great moves on it on solid rock. The second pitch is fun, but nowhere near as good as the first IMHO.
