Location: CO : Grand Junction area : Escalante Canyon : Cabin Wall : Willy's Hand Jive (5.10) By: chris begue When: Jun 16, 2010 | view comment >> | Comments: First ascent was in 1982, done by the awesome Chuck Grossman, Chris Begue, and a friend from Phili whose name is forgotten. There was a killer, loose block in the wide section whick may have been a factor to the lateness of the first ascent or just the remoteness of the area. Back then most of the cracks were unclimbed and ripe for first ascents by the likes of Robert Filmore, John Hulett, Dave Henritze.

Location: CO : Gunnison : Black Canyon of the Gunniso... : North Chasm View Wall : Comic Relief (5.10) By: chris begue When: Jun 12, 2010 | view comment >> | Comments: Great route, that whole wall with all its variations is a unique place in such a "forbidding" canyon!! The picture of Phil Broscovick on the 10d-really 11a/b variation was taken by me. And if you want a wild variation to the last real pitch or lightning bolt pitch traverse right around to the other side or straight up the prow!!! First done by John Hulett and myself.

Location: UT : Wasatch Range : Big Cottonwood Canyon : Dogwood Crag By: chris begue When: Jan 21, 2010 | view comment >> | Comments: The new route next to goin bald .9 is called unforgivin .10a put up in 02? by Chris Begue, Liz Cannon, and others. Only drawback is the wet start in spring and early summer. Mostly .8/.9 climbing with one crux move, though it is easier if you wander so stay true to gravity and a drop of water.

Location: International : North America : Virgin Gorda, BVI By: chris begue When: Aug 18, 2009 | view comment >> | Comments: The first time I climbed here was in the 70's and I was so bummed that I did not have a rope and the cliffs were not taller. My next encounter was in 84 and holy mother I knew what bouldering was and I knew what soft landings were and I was in the birth place of those. So cool to see pictures of an area that was part of my becoming a traveling climber. Remember to leave the places better then they were when you got there. Love and peace Chris

Location: CO : Gunnison : Taylor Canyon : First Buttress : Sun Deck : Bourbon Street (5.11a R) By: chris begue When: Nov 9, 2008 | view comment >> | Comments: First Free Ascent-Chris Begue and John Hulett. A crazy step into a new direction for me(and others)-followed it with Doug Scott in the spring on aid and realized there were enough holds for it to go. Started working it on lead with John getting all sorts of creative pro and listening to Thriller by M. J. that someone always seemed to have blarring in the parking lot. That was to be the original F.F.A. name yet felt it would have taken away from the theme. Chuck Grossman came oh so close to freei... more >>
