Comments: Lots of new bolts have been popping up lately, most recently on the left-most route at The Pumphouse. The bolts being used are total crap, hardware store Redheads (hanger is on a tiny grade 3, 5/16" stud), meanwhile the rest of the route is bomber Rawls. If you're gonna place a bolt, spend the money and order bomber ones from a reputable source, not Home Depot. As is stands now, all the Redheads should be replaced with something that is trustworthy.

Comments: Theft of lowering anchors is getting to be quite an annoying issue at East Animas. With so many accidents lately from worn biners, it makes sense to have some steel up there. When people steal biners from an anchor designed to have leaver biners, it ends up useless for lowering. Would any of the local shops be willing to donate some Fixe sport anchors to some of the popular sport routes? Some candidates would be the anchors on the Sandman Wall and Chingadero.

Comments: Just want to reiterate that the crux block is SUPER LOOSE! I was able to significantly flex it with a cam or a hand. Seems like you could send the entire route with a prybar. PILE! AVOID!

Comments: This can be done with a single rack from #0.3 to #3 Camalot. Two yellow Alien-size pieces are nice down low, and an extra 0.75 is nice, since you use one in the first crack right off the belay.

Comments: This pitch could really use its own anchor at the slab where Marcus added a bolt for the variation. Such a drag to have to TR the route to clean it.... It's a SPORT CLIMB!!!!!!

Comments: ALT. APPROACH BETA:

From the turnoff from the highway, go 0.7 miles up the dirt road to a pullout on the left with a boulder and a gravel pile. Park here. There is a road with a cable across it, don't block the road. Walk across the cable and immediately take a left on a singletrack trail that starts off up a rock band. Follow this until it becomes a double track, then at the end of the double track it becomes a single track again. Follow this down the the base of the "right side" climbs. This... more >>

Comments: An unknown party bolted most of this route except for the first few bolts. After years of sitting idle and unfinished, Jay Smith stepped up and finished it. Thanks. Jay. The name is a joke, not sure what to call it....

Comments: The sign at the parking lot was recently vandalized by some a-hole with a sharpie. "Leave your dog at home" was written all over the sign. It's really a shame to see such a malicious act by a fellow climber. Dogs ARE allowed at East Animas. Local climbers spent lots of time and money, with the help of the Access Fund, La Plata County, USFS, and Trails 2000, to provide a parking lot with a nice sign, as well as easements for a trail for climbers and their DOGS to use. Sorry you had a bad dog at c... more >>
