Got the Snake Eye over in the boulder field near Minor Mass today Sunday May 5th. He was a monster with a good 4+inch diameter at mid length. Couldn't get a better shot as I didn't want to get any closer and he blended quite well into the brown leaf cover. Yes... this is a rattlesnake encountered in a relatively busy area within DLSTP.

Leading King's Corner on-sight. I cheated and put my foot on the annoying tree that runs vertical adjacent to the route while placing gear to protect the crux. Gotta go back and clean up my bad manners. The crux traverse of this climb is a bit scary and thin for feet and hands but it's brief....

Leading first pitch of "Danger High Voltage" way back in the very early 80's. Don't know why I climbed the route this way- oh ya... to get the sign in the picture. It was a blue sky day all day.

70's nostalgia tube socks and all. 1978 and I am all of 16 here. Discovered climbing as a lifestyle early on in my life and feeling pretty happy about it. Obvious?

Dave Rone pulling the entrance moves to Whimpsicle on Jan 31, 2010. This was a very cold day but the sun finally came around and warmed us for this ascent. This is easily one of the best routes at Kama Bay. It looks like thin ice but it actually took great stubbies in the first 35 ft.

Burt L. leading "Quarry Monster" left side- Dennis's quarry, Wyalusing 12-29-10. The left side had filled in great this year and had an awesome and a bit overhanging- challenging ice lead.

Guess what year?? Chamois shirt, wool knickers, miss matched set of ice tools (one was Lowe/Interalp Hummingbird modular axe the other a non-modular Camp North Wall hammer which I eventually snapped the tip off in super cold conditions and thus rendering it useless) SMC strap on adjustable crampons (also not modular), Chouinard tubular ice screws (with accompanying screw ratchet driver), Willians Seat Harness, homemade quickdraws with old SMC (i think) death oval carabiners, Dachstien wooly mittens (them bad boys were darn warm even when soaking wet), and no helmet. ICE CLIMBING with no helmet.... Ha! Photo by Dave Rone.

Here the notorious "Devils Lake Caped Crusader" has allowed himself to be photographed (during a brief lull between his various super action hero duties). He gave a forceful thumbs up and thunderous "Tally Ho" before flying off to fight the spread of the evil Mustard Garlic.
