Comments: I don't understand the PG13 rating for this route. The beginning move is not hard and you can place a cam before the first bolt.

Comments: Does anyone know if any flakes have popped off near the top? The first few moves past the chains felt a little stout, looks like fresh rock. I would say the first few moves past the chains goes at a 10+

Comments: Knocked off a tv size boulder about 50ft up on the wall. Almost killed my belayer. Lots of loose flakes. Rock never feels solid anywhere.

Comments: Just placed my last piece before the anchors. Wish I would of brought up a tri cam or an extra .75 or .1

Comments: If you want, bring a #3 cam to protect the move going to the anchors.

Comments: bring a couple 1's and .75's and save a .75 for one of the last moves or run it out!

Comments: a must and a good warmup before doing The Nose. bring a .3 or a C3 #2 to protect the last move before the anchors.

Comments: The quicklink at the anchor is getting pretty rusty, probably needs to be changed either this season or next season.

Comments: I don't know why this route isn't in Tony's guidebook but I really enjoyed the route. Fun exposed moves near the top make it a great Wichita's climb.

Comments: To add on to what Killis said: Rope Drag is horrendous near the top of the second pitch. Extend, extend, extend, or setup an anchor halfway up the second pitch on a small corner. Small gear but plenty of chickenheads to wrap.

Comments: The 5.9 move(over hanging lay back) is protected well with a BD Cam #3 down low and a #4 up a little higher.

  • **READ THIS IF YOU WANT TO TOP OUT OF ELK SLABS OUT***

Equipment: 70M rope, .75-2'' Cam and nuts. Anchor: Long Webbing (wrap boulders near top)

After you pull the slightly over hanging lay back it is easy 5.4-5.5 slab to the top with a couple area's for protection. However, if you fall (for some odd reason well past the crux) you will definitely definitely hurt yoursel... more >>

Comments: missed the OS but the route was fun and probably the best exposed route at the ranch. Looking forward to going back and getting this one.

Comments: The fall is fun and into nothing, so I probably wouldn't give it a R rating, just PG13.

Comments: Don't blow it at the top, good little fall if you do. The crux is clipping the chains.

Comments: A very very fun route! Potential ground fall while going for the second bolt. If you like layaway plan you will like this route. Missed the OS due to 65-70mph gust.

Comments: Great climb. I found the start to be a strenous move, maybe I was attacking it wrong. From the ground the route looks tough, but once you clear the 2nd bolt, or the undercling section, it is easy climbing til the crux move(last move before chains) but the move is well protected.

Comments: This is definitely a classic 5.6 WMWR climb, not anywhere close to a 5.9. The route was fun and easy. However, like the others have said, there is a hidden bolt around ~14ft up, once you clear the tree it should be to the left.

Comments: Sustained .10c the whole way. when past the third roof, exit left for sustained .10 finish. Right exit is .11a finish. Wrap the boulder at the top for anchor. Fun climb.
