Comments: "Free" is always good. No matter what.

Comments: Agreed - 5 moves of 5.9 followed by 100+ feet of 5.7. Still fun, and a long route that eats up gear from C3s to #4 camalots.

Comments: Probably the least good of the routes on this wall, but still worth doing if in the area.

Comments: Possibly the best sport route of this grade in RR.

Comments: I've incurred more head injuries during approaches than I care to (or am able to) remember. Seriously, I have knocked myself out twice while walking to climbs. Both times I ran into trees. I have scars from them. I'm not proud.
The funny part is that both times Jen has found me and asked, "What is WRONG with you?" "I think I hit my head," as the blood runs down...

Comments: Nope...that sucks though. I can see how it must be harder now. You could always dyno!

Comments: Plus, it's not even close to 11a by Cochise or Mt Lemmon standards...regardless of height/reach.

Comments: Don't bother protecting the first 20 feet of 5.8 huecos. The first crux (5.11a) is thin and protects well with 2 brass nuts down low and small/medium nuts. The upper crux (11b) is very well protected with small/med cam and small/med nuts. It looks a lot worse from the ground than it is.

Comments: Red C4 in a pocket out left is bomber for the bulge. Heady pull on lead over the bulge, then it lets up.

Comments: Sorry to disagree with you, JLPierce, but this is fine as a first lead. It's insanely easy - I would venture to say that if someone is falling on this route (which is soft for 5.7), they're probably not ready to safely lead ANYTHING yet. As far as communication goes, my belayer, who is partially deaf (literally) had no problems hearing me.

Comments: Lots of stuff still coming off here - highly recommend helmet wear, especially for the belayer. Fun routes that will clean up nicely as people get on them more. Some holds will still come off in your hand (or under your feet), so be wary of that as you head up!!
Regardless, go climb them - the 5 second approach is worth it! :)
Mostly shady until about 2 pm as of now, which makes for pleasant temperatures.

Comments: Agreed - a smallish cam might make a fledgling leader feel safer...but I wouldn't wanna fall on said cam since it'd be behind a somewhat loose block. One move past that and you're standing on a picnic ledge.

Comments: One move wonder, for sure, but I found this route to be less "permanent" than Hot Tomale. I also think the crux move on this route is harder than any single move on Hot Tomale...I give it the same difficulty rating and 1 less star.

Comments: Great route, Daryl. It's cleaning up nicely - there seems to be less temporary holds on this one that on some of the others.

Comments: Ignore the guide book's comments on this one. It's clean and fun...and I'd say it's better than Life is Good.

Comments: Wish I could give 1/2 a star. Wouldn't give it a bomb because I've done far worse, and can't give it a full star, but this is a 5.7 or 8 with a single move of maybe 10a or b.

Comments: Best as a solo. Gear is virtually useless on this route anyway as the hardest moves are off the ground. I placed 1 piece about midway up to appease my belayer/wife. Not a very interesting route. Not even a good route for "practicing" placing gear, as there isn't much.
