More information:
I started climbing in 1971 in the Southeast/North Carolina. After College I moved around every couple of years to different climbing areas. New England/North Conway, Utah/SLC, Colorado/Boulder, Southern California, and finally setting down roots in Colorado in 1987. I have lived here since then and can't believe how much fun I have had and how fast the past 20+ years have gone by. What a great place to live if your a climber.

I've been climbing for 35 + years now total and still love climbing as much today as I did when I first started. I really enjoy all types of climbing. I enjoy trad as well as sport, and I have done & I am relatively proficient in all forms of climbing from cragging to big wall climbing, as well as waterfall ice and alpine climbing. In those 35 yrs I have been fortunate enough to be able to climb all over the US and many places internationally.

I have climbed up to 5.13 back in the 80's when it was at the top of the grades, but now at 50 plus years old I don't seem to be able to climb nearly as hard as I use to. Maybe I have reached the stage in life where it is better to focus on the joy of climbing instead of athletic performance. At least that's what I tell myself when I get smacked down on routes I used to be able to do without too much effort.

I do still have the passion to try & climb hard and can "on sight" climbs up to about 5.12- on a good day, when I'm feeling very fresh and saucy, the rock is crisp, I have good beta, the moves are obvious and not very strenuous, and gravity is very low. LOL \;o)

I really enjoy meeting & getting out with motivated people who share the same passion I have for climbing & adventure. Those people help motivate me to continue to climb as much & as hard as I can. It is a joy to get out & climb with people that are doing some of the climbs I did years ago for their first time. I guess I find it a way of vicariously re living many of my past experiences. It has been interesting to live long enough now, to be able to watch climbing evolve and I am impressed and amazed by the achievements and abilities of the new generation of climbers.
