Comments: Adam-

I've seen lots of people camping amongst the boulders. The 4x4 road in is a little gnarly, so you may have to hike your stuff in from the road if you have a low clearance vehicle. Otherwise, check out the dispersed camping on Homestake Road a couple miles away (The Aircraft Carrier Boulder is right there, check it out on this site).

Comments: This can be a very fun dyno eliminate as well. Go from the right-hand sloper and the left-hand crimp ledge straight to the positive crimp. Super fun.

Comments: I agree. I've been visiting this place for the past couple of years, and it is a very peaceful, very fun moderate area. Simply beautiful stone next to a beautiful creek in a beautiful forest. What more could a boulderer want?

Comments: The episode "Alone on the Wall" with Alex Honnold is the best of the series IMO. The other episodes are mostly recycled footage from "The Sharp End" and "Progression".

The episode about Copp and Dash was very moving, but it's really hard for me to watch again....

Comments: This one feels stout. Are people bumping from the good ledge from "Chick Power" before heading to the sidepull, or just cranking through?

Comments: Is this some kind of sick joke? I can't find these boulders, and what's with the R and X ratings for 7ft problems?

Comments: This problem feels like a stiff V5 for me. I still can't commit to the high slopers. I really enjoy the line on the left side of the roof though. I agree that feels more like V3.

Comments: Take US Highway 24 south from I-70 through the town of Red Cliff. About 0.5 mile after crossing the Red Cliff bridge, US Highway 24 forms a Y intersection with Water Street, which heads back to Red Cliff under the bridge

The parking is on your right in the dirt pullout/median between Water Street and US Highway 24. Study a Google map of the area, and you will see what I am talking about.

On the map, you will see a road across from the pullout called "Powerline Road". This is the old 4x4 tra... more >>

Comments: Has anyone else done this problem with the right boulder completely off (i.e. no jamming)? It's pretty fun to just climb the sloping arete using the cracks, hidden side-pulls and rails to a mantle topout. Probably still V1 or V2.

Comments: Awesome job, Monty! This route is uber fun. Great movement, mellow climbing, sweet belay ledges, and a thoughtful finish on a really cool headwall. Perfectly protected without feeling over-bolted. Classic.

Comments: I think this is my new favorite place to boulder in Colorado. Thanks for all the great beta and photos. Finding the boulders and problems has been super easy. Great work, Mr. Childers.

Comments: I agree, Ben. V1 from the jug sounds right. The sit start was a lot harder than I thought it would be, given the poor feet. It might even be V3... or maybe I just need to do more pull-ups.

I'll remember my camera next time I'm there and post a pic. Maybe the FA-er will recognize it. It was definitely worth doing, IMO.

Comments: Some friends and I climbed a line on a large boulder we found by hiking past the Lost Boulder and heading down and to the right (as opposed to up and left to get to The Pearl). Does anyone have any info on that boulder? I might be just crazy, but I can't find it anywhere on MP. The boulder was a bit dirty for feet, but there were good jugs and chalked-up start crimps, kind of a layback crack at the top.... It was just a little east of Shiver Me Timbers.

Comments: The small horn on the right side of the jug half way up snapped off last night. This doesn't make the problem any harder, but the fall straight backwards onto the other boulder was kind of scary. When you're on Marry Ann, always remember to use good protection.

Comments: This is a pretty fun line. Be careful of the top out, though... I was greeted by a slippery bed of dead pine needles from that tree that grows over the spire.

Comments: Right you are. I just changed the description to include that qualifier.

If you know any other good routes in the Snake Pit, please post 'em. My experience there is limited, and my Golden/Denver friends don't see the place as much of a draw, so I'm usually there all alone. It's been hard to gather beta and route names/grades.

Comments: I agree. I'm actually going for the V2 move with my right hand in this pic, not the double-handed dyno. I've never actually been able to get the full dyno, but I've been told it's in the V6 range by a couple of people there.

I'll try to post a pick from the lower holds.

Good call.

Comments: Dear administrators:

Would it be possible to reorganize the Snake Pit area by breaking it down into separate boulders? It might make problem-finding in the are a little easier knowing there are multiple boulders there, all with viable problems on them. Granted, Mongoose is the coolest, but the others can be fun too.

I'll be happy to take pictures of the other boulders if you need them.

Comments: Has anyone tried a SDS to this problem? It makes it a lot more fun, but I don't know if it adds any difficulty.

Also, does anyone else want to rate Lono? It's rated V3 here but only V1 in the guidebooks I own. It's the only problem I can finish on Millennium, so I have no idea how to rate it.
