Comments: The old hangerless bolt line I believe is one that Rob Mulligan and I put up in the mid to late 80's. It was done on lead although we were accused of rap bolting it. If I remember right I believe we gave it a rating of hard 11 or maybe a 12. The crux if I remember right was getting past bolt #2. Don't remember now what we named it. Also don't think I could climb it now.

Comments: All of my guides say that North Buttress and Uneventful cross at the large ledge and Uneventful finishes to the left and not up thru thru the J Tree but that is the finish to North Buttress. Are the guides wrong?

Comments: Re-climbed this last saturday 3-5-11. First time I've been on it since putting it up almost 26 years ago. Surprising how well the 1/4" buttonheads still looked. Just glad I didn't have to test them.

Comments: I believe that was my Strawberry Mountain swami. It had a leg loop setup also but I liked just climbing in the swami. Probably because I never took any long falls in it.

Comments: Not sure I was climbing on Turlock my friends heard something that sounded like a fall, but no one called for any help. There were people up in the Pin Scars area but no one seemed to be panicked in any way. Next thing we new the Paramedics showed up. It appears someone may have fallen from the Pin Scars above Turlock, that is where they headed to. The best I can tell from my photos is the person they air lifted out appeared to have on climbing shoes. He fell about 40 to 80 feet we were told. D... more >>

Comments: Put this under news and events, but maybe should have put here.
Back in about 1985 Rob Mulligan and I stumbled onto the Shark Fin on a trip back from Tuolumne Meadows. We had decided to check out the Alabama Hills and found this formation with no bolts on it and decided to give it a shot. With only 5 bolts between us we used 3 to get to the top and the last 2 on top for rapping. We never reported our accent since no one at that time was doing much here. I was just there on 5-16-10 and realized w... more >>

Comments: Rob and I stumbled upon this bolt ladder after putting up Psoriasis, so we just kept climbing.
Those bolts were old when we found them I can't imagine what they are like now.
