Comments: This is one of those pitches that, after being spanked on it the first time, you say to yourself..."holy shit, 11b, really?" I'll feel hard as nails when I get that one, next time. Very strenuous pitch, by way of comparison Hesitation Blues is a warmup climb next to this.

Comments: If your not looking to camp in the middle of 80% of the climbing population in the Potrero and you want quiet, shaded, clean, mellow and more mature accommodations with, undoubtedly, the nicest kitchen facilities then you want to stay at La Pagota. Posada is nice for those that like the excitement of much social interaction.

Comments: Did you leave something of value at El Potrero, at La Pogota? Tell me what it was and what is in it and I will be more than happy to send it to you.

Comments: Yes it is. I forget the name of the beach. You follow the highway until it dead ends at the beach. Then just follow the shore line to the north (left) and you can't miss it.

Comments: Fun wall to climb on, long routes. Adventure sport climbing if you will. People climbing it should really consider wearing a helmet. There is a lot of loose rock on the wall. My partner's foothold pulled out and almost hit me. It was big enough to ruin the day in a bad way. Would not climb underneath anyone. No problem getting across the river (steel cable, bring pulley). Looking forward to going back.

Comments: I vote Yes. Environmental, parking and impact concerns being addressed
I climb, I bike. I've been climbing in Eldo for 14 years. Concerns for parking are valid, however; There ain't s@#t to ride around here. Those "mountain biking" trails outside of the canyon are nothing more than dirt sidewalks. Thousands of climbs in Boulder County, hundreds/thousands(?) of hiking trails, thousands of cyclists, not a whole lot of biking trails. What if we said the Third Flatiron was suffic... more >>

Location: CO : Boulder : Boulder Canyon : Castle Rock : Storming the Castle (5.11) By: Bennie When: Jul 13, 2007 | view comment >> |
Comments: I was recently up at Castle Rock and saw this new bolt line. It is, in my opinion, put up in extremely poor taste. One can easily toprope this line. There are 3 bolts within 7 - 8 feet of each other and the climb is only 35ft. tall. The routes that didn't get bolted by the masses of developers over the past 3 decades were not chosen for good reasons. It is people like this that create problems and access issues.
