Comments: Wow. Why all the penalty slack? If the leader is on the steep start, why not be more conscientious about the amount of rope out??

Comments: Hmmm....that looks painful, but that's "cheese grating or cheese grater," NOT cheese grading.

Comments: CONDITION REPORT: THE FIRST BOLT AND THE ANCHOR ARE MISSING FROM "AQUA NEGRO." The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th bolts are still in place.

Frenchy750...actually, "Aqua Negro" is missing just the 1st bolt and the anchor. However, as the 1st bolt WAS fairly high, it just seems like more than one bolt has gone missing. If you insist on climbing "Aqua Negro" a couple strategies are:

1. Climb "Itsy Bitsy Spider" (to the left of Aqua Negro) and use its ring anchors (with your own gear!) and the last bolt on "A... more >>

Comments: As is typical of Texas Canyon holds break and routes continue to evolve. Recently, a large inclusion which provided a very positive handhold, at the crux, broke and has left a shallow divot and made "Bilbo Surfs Galveston" a notch harder.

Comments: Thanks, John. That was very helpful. We've climbed Lava Falls before, but probably would have forgotten that the belay anchor was out to the right.

Comments: Word has it that someone has done a fine job of cleaning the paint/graffiti off of "Teflon" and restored the climb to its prepaint friction/coarseness. Thank you!!

Comments: Huh? No way that bolt "rusted" into that taper. Something smells fishy here.
How about another photo with better focus and/or higher resolution?

Comments: Tane....good job with the tie-in and easing Marc's concerns regarding the 2nd anchor. My concern is your belay technique with the Gri Gri...may I suggest looking at this video link on the proper belay technique as suggested by Petzl.

Please note that the brake hand DOES NOT come off the rope......EVER.
