Comments: Yes, I should probably change that just to avoid confusion, originally we thought upper Gypsy was the wide butte separated from the rim, but after talking with Luke about anchors and rereading DR, we realized that it was not in the book. It's a good climb, on the side that faces the Grand Junction entrance kiosk.

Comments: Getting to the Pipe Dream anchor is sketchy too. "Aces & Eights" is a much better way off that side. Good ledges on the way down 3 raps with one seventy meter.

Comments: Blue started seated on the two lower holds. Even when I was in good shape, I never bouldered harder than V7, so I have to say probably in the V6/7 range. There use to be a single, tiny, egg nodule to help with the smear on the right foot. It's a funny one because the dyno needs a reach, but the if you're too tall, it hoses you on the lower part. The other two I don't really remember. The best problem on this boulder is on the backside climbing out of the cave and making a long reach to a goo... more >>

Comments: While I absolutely applaud the new route activity going on on the long overlooked walls lining this canyon, you guys need to start using painted hangers. It is getting pretty bad. You can bet the land managers see it too.

Comments: Next team to go to the top bettter bring a drill. These 2 summit 1/4"s are starting to have some pretty good wiggle to them.

Comments: On the backside of this boulder, there's a sweet problem coming out of the cave and up the slab. Look for a hidden hold!

Comments: I put up most of these Boulders in the early 2000s. This one is the Bucket Racer Boulder after that sick, three dish to a massive dyno on the left side. I had names for most of the boulders in this area, but I really don't remember. It's been too long ago. Good stuff though.

Comments: This is absolutely the coolest, most fun, & steepest climbing for the grade of any tower that I have done. Really cool, clean chimneying. Super cruiser, 1 long pitch. A great find!

Comments: Totally blew past the 1st anchor no problem. I went straight up instead of moving left into the other crack system, you can traverse the ledge up top pretty easy. Also a single 70m gets you to the ground from the 2nd belay but not with much to spare. Cruiser and fun, if this thing wasn't tucked so far back in there, it would see a lot more traffic.

Comments: Bomber, if I remember right, all but one have been updated. The initial moves right across the rib definitely have some true Monument spice though. Once you get around the corner, things mellow out.

Comments: Matt, I hadn't heard that story of you guys till quite a while after we put it up and really just got the short version. Thanks for filling in the blanks. When I found out, I was bummed, but the damage had aready been done. It's hard to tell where folks have been out here sometimes. We did some cleaning ourselves though nothing like that. That block must have come out as you move right from the fingers to the platform before the final wide section. A little scary through the choss band but p... more >>

Comments: I know, we should probably change that. Problem is we do not know the true name of the tower you linked. I posted that one several years ago, and to be fair it is what the original Desert Rock and DR III have labeled as Egypt Rock. However, when Paul and I got to the top of the True Egypt Rock last fall, we opened the summit register to find that all the guides have been wrong this whole time. I think those ones way down there across the canyon are called "Knob Rock" and som... more >>

Comments: One 6 pack of Fat Tire coming up. Damn, Paul, stole my thunder. I should have known you would be lurking out there somewhere, hehehe. I was hoping to have a bit more fun with that. I got your back next time we hook up.

Comments: Bzzzzzzzz, try again. There are seven towers in this picture, 8 if you count the nubbin at the foot of Grand View. I'll buy a six pack for the one who names them all.

Comments: Skyler I know you know this, but climbing w/o a helmet on tower routes (even well traveled ones) out here is asking for trouble. You just need to ask yourself -- "Do I want to make the front page of the Sentinel?" 'Cause if you have a bad accident in there, you're going to.

Comments: If it weren't for the old angle above the point where the chimney tapers down, I might say yes. But I remember that angle being OLD, I mean really old. Maybe John came in from another direction to the big ledge and that's where the newer bolts came from. Joel A. and partner (?) did the back side route.

Comments: The pitch 2 aid section was freed today on TR w/ one hang and the roof P4 was sent on lead @ 5.Hard! There is also an extreme choss factor on these two pitches. All the important bolts have been replaced with 3/8" & 1/2" at the belays. Much thanks to whoever did this.
